Tori Kelly‘s new Kirk Franklin produced album titled Hiding Place, is the 25-year-old singer’s first gospel record.
“I didn’t really plan to put out a gospel album,” Tori admitted in a recent interview with Idolator. “To be honest, it felt like it just happened.” She continues, “I’ve been writing for the last two years, pretty much since I got off the Unbreakable Smile Tour. I went straight into writing and throughout that process I basically felt that maybe I should throw a gospel song, just a song on the album.” “And the reason for that is because I grew up on gospel music, I grew up singing it and a lot of what makes up gospel music is a huge influence in my own music,” Tori added. “Growing up, I thought maybe one day I’ll do a gospel project. So, I threw the idea out to my team and they were super into it.” You can stream Hiding Place below and be sure to pick it up across all digital platforms. Singer-songwriter Lauren Hashian and Grammy-nominated artist Naz Tokio drop a video for their collaborative single “Samson,” premiering exclusively on Billboard today (Sept. 14). The video treatment written by Hashian and the visual features the two artists splitting time between glitzy, futuristic interiors and a remote, tribalistic locale inhabited by a pack of wolves. Rife with spellbinding art direction and spotlight features -- including producer Mike Zombie (Drake’s “Started From The Bottom”), Jamaican DJ Marley Waters and fashion model Adonis Bosso, as well as martial arts choreography by Khang Vu and Keenan Car -- the Deangelo Harding & Dustin Shepard-directed video goes above the surreal by adding tactile and practical reality. “We wanted the ‘Samson’ video to feel very real and symbolic,” Hashian said. “The wolves we shot with represent loyalty, protection and trust. The symbol of the ninjas is also protection and finding your inner strength. Samson is a warrior and in control of her strength, coming to powerfully protect the people she loves," she adds. The animals featured in the video were provided by the wolf rescue sanctuary Wolf Connection that also offers youth empowerment programs for at-risk children. Ariana Grande, who dated Mac Miller for two years before the couple broke up in May, released a written and video tribute Friday (September 14) to the rapper, who died earlier this month of a reported overdose.
In a poignant Instagram post, Grande says she hopes Miller is "okay now," and chronicles the couple's time together. "i adored you from the day i met you when i was nineteen and i always will," she writes over video that finds the couple laughing and talking. "i canât believe you arenât here anymore. i really canât wrap my head around it. we talked about this. so many times. iâm so mad, iâm so sad i donât know what to do. you were my dearest friend. for so long. above anything else. iâm so sorry i couldnât fix or take your pain away. i really wanted to. the kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. i hope youâre okay now. rest." Grande and Miller began dating in 2016 and broke up this spring, after which Grande shared a message calling the relationship "toxic." âI have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety & prayed for his balance for years (and always will of course),â she wrote. âBut shaming/blaming women for a manâs inability to keep his shit together is a very major problem.â
According to E! News, Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin, who shocked the entertainment world when they announced a lightning-quick engagement earlier this year, have sworn they don't plan to get married until 2019...ARE MARRIED "They didn't tell anyone they were doing it," a source said. "They are doing a separate ceremony out of the country with a few family members soon as well."
According to TMZ, the couple visited the Marriage Bureau in New York City Thursday (September 13), where they both were demonstrably emotional. Sources say Bieber was crying and saying to Baldwin "I can't wait to marry you baby." Another said Bieber and Baldwin planned to leave the country immediately after the visit. A source previously told TMZ the young couple wanted to take the time to make their ceremony just right. "We're told they feel they've made the commitment, and that's the most important thing," TMZ wrote. "Justin's been in love with her for a long time, so this didn't just come from out of the blue," the source added. Bieber popped the question to Baldwin during a romantic trip to the Bahamas in July. The singer confirmed the news days later on Instagram. Nick Carter will not be prosecuted for allegedly raping Dream member Melissa Schuman 15 years ago, as police have confirmed to The Los Angeles Times that the statute of limitations on the case has expired.
Schuman, who filed a police report in February, noted in a blog post published Tuesday (September 11) that she was “aware of the likelihood that my case was not prosecutable due to the statute of limitations in California regarding rape which was modified in 2016.” Still, she noted that she was disappointed in the decision made by authorities. Twitter Ads info and privacy“It is unfortunate that the law isn’t fully retroactive to accommodate assaults that have happened in the past, regardless of how far back,” Schuman wrote. “It gives me great solace to know that my testimony is fully documented, investigated and sealed for the future if needed by law enforcement...Speaking out was the best thing I could have ever done for myself and I hope it inspires others to do the same if it feels right to them.” Schuman first alleged in a blog post published in 2017 that Carter had forced himself on her in a in a bathroom in Santa Monica amid the filming of a 2004 film. She claimed that Carter forced oral sex on her and ultimately climbed on top of her and raped her. "I told him that I was a virgin and I didn't want to have sex," she said. "I told him that I was saving myself for my future husband. I said it over and over again. He whispered in my ear as to entice me, 'I could be your husband.'" Carter later denied the story and told TMZ he was "shocked and saddened by Ms. Schuman’s accusations." "Melissa never expressed to me while we were together or at any time since that anything we did was not consensual...This is the first that I am hearing about these accusations, nearly two decades later. It is contrary to my nature and everything I hold dear to intentionally cause someone discomfort or harm," he said. |
