Bush just dropped a video for their latest single, “Lost in You,” which comes from their album Black and White Rainbows, which came out this past March. “‘Lost in You’ is a song about the cycle of love and the danger of patterns, and how true love is to lose yourself in someone,” says Gavin Rossdale in a statement. “The video chronicles a relationship that is beautiful and wide, until the cracks appear. And the question is…how strong is the love and do we make it back?” The video ends with a despondent Rossdale pressing his hands against the glass window to a house. Yet despite the emotional devastation represented, Rossdale told us earlier this year that Black and White Rainbows is hardly a break-up record. “It’s really about the chrysalis stage of a butterfly,” he said. “It’s about starting fresh. It’s about the dark before the light. It’s a really transitional record. I made sure it’s by no means a breakup record. It’s really about the possibility of life and what’s happening there. It’s very exciting. It’s about all the positive sides of life when you’ve had everything sort of going backwards when the buildings falling down and you have the flat level of land and you build your house and your world and your life and your family back up. That’s what I’ve done that’s what I’m doing every day.”

US Weekly confirmed that Beyoncé and JAY-Z are sharing the stage for a benefit concert for Hurricane Irma and Harvey victims. Roc Nation artists will also perform at the benefit.
Beyoncé has supported relief efforts for Harvey victims over the past few weeks through her Bey Good foundation as well as during Bun B’s Hand in Hand telethon on Sept. 12, where she gave a rousing, emotional speech. “During a time where it’s impossible to watch the news without seeing violence or racism in this country, just when you think it couldn’t possibly get worse, natural disasters take precious life, do massive damage and forever change lives, leaving behind contaminated water, flooded hospitals, schools and nursing homes,” said during the telethon, which earned an estimated $55 million. “Natural disasters don’t discriminate. They don’t see if you’re an immigrant, black or white, Hispanic or Asian, Jewish or Muslim, wealthy or poor. It doesn’t matter if you’re from [Houston neighborhoods] Third Ward or River Oaks, we’re all in this together.” The show will be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on Tuesday, October 17.
DeJ Loaf releases her latest single, “Changes.”
In an interview with HotNewHipHop, DeJ says that she allowed fear to hold her back from pursuing her goals. “Fear held me back a lot, personally as a kid. Growing up, like I was very shy and to myself, and you know, that kind of holds you back,” she said. There’s no word on when DeJ Loaf will release her debut project, Liberated. You can watch her new video for “No Fear” right here. Miley Cyrus‘ highly awaited new album is just about a week away now, and the pop star released Thursday (September 21), “Week Without You” finds the pop-turned-country star delivering a sassy, unbothered kiss-off to a lackluster lover over a bed of twangy rockabilly riffs. “If I spent a week without you / Bet you wonder what I’d do / I think that I’d start goin’ out / Get caught kissin’ other dudes,” Miley croons on the playful bop. Listen up top. Cyrus’ new album, Younger Now, is due out September 29.
Jhene Aiko surprised fans with a brand new album last night (September 21).
Titled TRIP, the 22-song album features guest appearances from Big Sean, Swae Lee of Rae Sremmurd, Brandy, and Kurupt. The release comes after Aiko recently released a short film for the album and it's also the singer's first major studio album since 2014's Souled Out. Gucci Mane stopped by a New York City Barnes & Noble on Tuesday (Sept. 19) for a book signing in honor of his latest piece of work, The Autobiography of Gucci Mane. The event was going great until anti-fur activists verbally attacked the “Curve” rapper. A man approached Gucci, dapping him up and commending him for thinking about going vegan but then told the rapper he “can’t be vegan if he keeps on wearing that fur.” The man then pulled out a shirt that read “Animal Abuser” and began shouting the phrase. The man was also joined by a woman who had the same shirt as well. “Shame on Gucci, animal abuser, shame on Gucci, animal abuser,” both shouted before being escorted away from the scene by the rapper’s security. According to TMZ, the two were members of New York Animal Defenders. As this all unfolded, Gucci stayed calmed and let a security guard handle the disruption. The rapper’s probation was recently ended two years early. Up next for the Atlanta artist, his upcoming album, Mr. Davis, is set to drop on Oct. 13. Originally scheduled for a September release, the album was pushed back a month. The Migos rapper insists that it will dropped this year. However, the Trav and Quavo will have to go through a batch of songs they have recorded for it.
“It’s going to drop real, real soon. Soon as I get some time,” he said. “We’ve been making a whole bunch of records; we got a lot of records together right now, we’ve probably got like 20 records, we just need to get some time and just sort ’em out. It’s all good.” In addition to the joint project, Migos is expected to drop Culture 2, which Offset attests is “a masterpiece.” Elsewhere in the interview, The Atlanta trio talk about their favorite cartoon characters and deliver a message to the youth. According to TMZ, Sean Hall and Nathan Butler, who wrote the 3LW track, officially claim in a lawsuit that Swift’s “Shake It Off” lyrics (“Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play/ And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate) are a direct lift from their tune’s words (“Playas, they gonna play and haters, they gonna hate“). They claim 20 percent of “Shake It Off” is theirs, and are seeking compensation.
Taylor's rep says, “This is a ridiculous claim and nothing more than a money grab. The law is simple and clear. They do not have a case.” And this isn’t the first time Swift’s been sued for the song, back in 2015, Jessie Braham sued Taylor Swift for $42 million over the same lyrics, according to CNN Money. Braham, who copyrighted a song called “Haters Gone Hate” in 2013, claimed Swift’s song borrowed his 22-word lyric set, even though the songs sounded nothing alike. So if your on top of the charts, and use the word Playa' and Hate in your song, get ready to get sued! Linkin Park announced they will perform a one-night-only tribute to their late frontman Chester Bennington. It’s unclear what the future holds for the band in the long-term, but they will honor Bennington at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on Oct. 27. Dubbed “Linkin Park and Friends,” many other artists will join them to honor the life and work of their friend and bandmate. The show will raise money for Music for Relief’s One More Light Fund in memory of Bennington. The band also released a video directed by Joe Hahn for “One More Light,” the title track of their latest record, which you can watch above. It features footage of Bennington on and off stage. “‘One More Light’ was written with the intention of sending love to those who lost someone. “We now find ourselves on the receiving end,” Linkin Park’s guitarist and songwriter Mike Shinoda said in a statement. “In memorial events, art, videos, and images, fans all over the world have gravitated towards this song as their declaration of love and support for the band and the memory of our dear friend, Chester. We are so very grateful and can’t wait to see you again.” Hahn added, “It has been incredibly emotional to work on this, and especially to watch it. I feel that by doing it, we not only faced some of our biggest fears, but it enabled us to use our talents to bring some light to people that need it. As we move forward to the Hollywood Bowl show and beyond, I think about the people that connect with the band, outside and inside our circle. This video is a gesture of good will to the people that want that connection.” Tickets go on sale to the general public on Sept. 22 at 10 AM Pacific. Members of the Linkin Park fan club, LP Underground, will get a first crack at them on Sept. 19 at noon. Visit the band’s website for more details. Earlier today, Bennington’s widow, Talinda, shared video of her late husband and their children that was taken only a few days before his death. She did it to show people that depression doesn’t always come with easily identifiable signs. |
