The Mexican kingpin was just handed a life sentence, plus 30 years, by the judge in a federal courtroom in Brooklyn after being convicted on all 10 counts he was facing back in February. He's also ordered by the government to repay $12.6 BILLION as a result of the dirty money he made from his criminal drug enterprise. As we reported, El Chapo was found guilty for engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise, conspiracy to launder narcotics proceeds, international distribution of cocaine, heroin, marijuana and other drugs and use of firearms. The verdict came after a nearly 3-month trial which included a jury hearing around 200 hours of testimony about drug trafficking, luxury weapons, money laundering ... and an alleged $100 million bribe to a former Mexican president. El Chapo reportedly looked stunned by the guilty verdict but managed to give his wife, Emma Coronel, a double thumbs up before he was led out of the courtroom. Guzman was captured by the Mexican government in 2014, escaped more than a year later through a mile-long underground tunnel and caught again in early 2016. He was extradited to the U.S. in early 2017. R. Kelly was in court for his bond hearing, and will remain behind bars for now.
Prosecutors argued against his release, telling the judge that he's a danger to the community, especially to minor girls. They claim the risk of obstruction is real and ongoing, and also heightened by his fame and power. Prosecutors are also saying he has the "unique ability to influence and intimidate witnesses and victims, and that continues to this day." They added an emphatic, "It's who the defendant is," after alleging that he's sexually assaulted the alleged victims hundreds of times. Kelly ultimately pled not guilty and was denied bond. The prosecution also argued there's no question R. Kelly is the person in the videos they've obtained -- which appears to be a reference to the alleged sex tapes at the center of the probe. They're claiming that electronic monitor and home confinement is not enough for Kelly ... going on to say he can "entice girls to his own doorstep." BTS has taken 2019 by storm, having just released BTS World, the soundtrack to their mobile game. Not only did the collection of songs help expand their brand, but it also marked the first-ever K-pop soundtrack to enter Billboard's Top Soundtracks chart, after debuting at No. 6. It also featured artists from all over the world, including Charli XCX, Zara Larsson, and Juice Wrld. Lil Nas X skyrocketed to fame after the release of "Old Town Road" featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. Not only did it exponentially launch his career, but on July 15 it was announced that the song ruled the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for a 15th week. That means the rapper, 20, beat out Taylor Swift's "You Need To Calm Down," Post Malone's "Goodbyes," and Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's "Señorita." It also means that Lil Nas is just one week away from tying the record for the most time on top in the chart's history (going against Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito" feat. Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day"). More celebs have sinced hopped on "Old Town Road," with Mason Ramsey and Young Thug most recently teaming up to remix the song. Carey and Smash Mouth also playfully teased about the possibility of a second remix on social media. Grande has also been dominating the Internet. After going through some tough times in the public eye, followed by releasing one of her most personal and vulnerable albums to date (Thank U, Next), fans have been feeling more connected to the superstar on social media than ever before. Most recently, the singer has been indulging in her fashionista side by starring in Givenchy's new campaign, unveiling her Vogue cover story, and emphasizing all of her iconic accessories (and sadness) in her latest "In My Head" video. She also announced that she co-executive produced the soundtrack for the upcoming Charlie's Angels film and has been touring and delivering emotional performances nonstop. Time also featured Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Liza Koshy, Brian Kolfage, James Charles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and more. See the full list here. Grimes has teamed up with Stella McCartney for an upcoming Adidas by Stella McCartney campaign centered on sustainability using eco-friendly fabrics. It's the second time the pair have collaborated, following up on Grimes' appearance in a series of 2016 commercials for McCartney's POP perfume. The singer posted a pic from the Adidas campaign on Monday (July 15) in which she is posed atop a mountain while wearing a pair of black and blue shorts and matching top, her rainbow hair flowing in the wind. Grimes announced in March that she is prepping an upcoming album entitled Miss_Anthropocene, which she described as a "concept album about the anthropomorphic Goddess of climate Change: A psychedelic, space-dwelling demon/ beauty-Queen who relishes the end of the world... She’s composed of Ivory and Oil.” So far we've heard the song, “We Appreciate Power” featuring Hana, which she called an introduction to the “pro-AI-propaganda girl group who embody our potential enslavement/destruction at the hands of Artificial General intelligence.”

K-pop boy band NCT Dream drops “Fireflies,” performed completely in English. The song arrived after group was named the World Scout Foundation’s first global ambassador, and was released in collaboration with that organization.
The song relays an effervescent motivational message, “I know it's hard sometimes to see the light/ But you and I keep on dreamin',” members sing in the pre-chorus, before the song explodes with the choral refrain that promises to “light it up” and “make the stars align” “brighter than the fireflies.” The proceeds of “Fireflies” will be used to fund Scout activities in low-income countries, says NCT Dream's company SM Entertainment. NCT Dream, the rotational teen-age group under SM Entertainment’s larger NCT boy band umbrella, will head to West Virginia on July 23, where they will perform at the 24th World Scout Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve. Lo said in a video clip on Twitter, filmed backstage at Madison Square Garden. "I was waiting there. Obviously all the power went out in the city and obviously here at Madison Square Garden." "They're asking everybody to evacuate, very slowly and calmly," she said in her update. "I am obviously heartbroken and devastated ... I love you. I'm so sorry this happened in the middle of our moment," said J. Lo. In a second video, she added: "I just don't even know what to say. I just want you guys to know that you're gonna get your money's worth, that we are going to come back and we're gonna do an amazing show for you. I am so sorry that this happened. Obviously it was beyond all of our control. The building handled it very well. They did the smartest thing for everybody's safety." In addition to the cancelation of her show, many productions on Broadway, including Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Frozen, Moulin Rouge and The Lion King, were called off Saturday night.
