America’s Got Talent got drama already with Tyra Banks ahead of its May 30 season premiere: An auditioning act is suing the show’s production company after claiming that new host Tyra Banks traumatized her child.
According to an 18-page suit obtained by Deadline, the plaintiff and her husband performed a song written in honor of their young daughter as part of a March 19 audition. The judges hammered the singing duo and sent them away, but the real trouble didn’t come until later, when reports that Banks had harassed the young girl came to light. The plaintiff alleges Banks “physically manipulated and verbally abused Mary [the girl]. Banks shook Mary’s shoulder, pulled Mary’s hair back and physically manipulated Mary. … Mary did not stop Banks’ conduct because Mary was fearful. Banks also insinuated that Mary was accidentally conceived, made fun of the performance and ridiculed [the song] in front of Mary, all in front of active cameras that were filming Mary. After the performance, Banks asked Mary to describe, in front of active and filming cameras, her opinion about Jane [Mary’s mother] and her husband after they were publicly ridiculed by AGT…As a result of her negative experience from AGT and Defendants’ abusive treatment, Mary was traumatized and became deeply depressed.” The suit officially claims “intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress along with civil battery and civil assault.” Banks was first announced as the new AGT host in March after previous host Nick Cannon quit abruptly. Cannon had claimed NBC was on a mission to silence him. “Since I was a little girl, I’ve been obsessed with grandiose acts and performers who make the seemingly impossible possible,” Banks said in March after her new position was announced. “I love how AGT brings that feeling into everyone’s home, capturing the best of people who come out and give it their all to make those big, fierce and outrageous dreams come true. Following the latest terrorist attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England, some musicians touring the country have decided to postpone their concerts tonight. One of those is Blondie, who had booked a special event for tonight.
As they wrote on Facebook, “Out of a mark of respect for the victims of the terrible attack at the Manchester Arena last night, Amazon and Blondie will not go ahead with the Prime Live Event scheduled for tonight at the Round Chapel in Hackney, London. Amazon is working together with Blondie to reschedule the event.” Take That used similar wording in their announcement. “Out of respect to all of the people and their families that were affected by the horrific incident last night at The Manchester Arena, we have decided to postpone our show tonight in Liverpool. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.” However, Iron Maiden‘s U.K. tour will go on. In a series of tweets, they wrote, “We are shocked by last night’s terrible events at the Manchester Arena. Our thoughts go out to everyone affected. We can advise fans that our last three UK shows in Cardiff and at London’s O2 will proceed as planned. Of course any extra means to ensure fan safety are being examined with the relevant authorities.” At approximately 10:30PM local time last night, a man detonated an explosive device inside the arena at the conclusion of Grande’s concert. At press time, 22 people have been killed, with another 59 injured. A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack. Grande has reportedly suspended the remaining dates on her European tour. Well what we all knew to be true is finally confirmed.
Appearing in a Carpool Karaoke segment with James Corden on The Late Late Show Monday night (May 22), Katy Perry shared the details, on her and Taylor Swift‘s feud. “That’s true, there is a situation,” Perry admitted to Corden when asked about the long-rumored “Bad Blood” between her and Swift. “Honestly, it’s really like she started it and it’s time for her to finish it,” Perry added, claiming that she “tried to” talk to the 1989 pop star, who was unwilling to work things out. “She wouldn’t speak to me. I do the right thing anytime that it feels like a fumble. It was a full shut-down and then she writes a song about me and I’m like, ‘Okay, cool, cool, cool. That’s how you wanna deal with it?'” “But, what I wanna say is that I’m ready for that B.S. to be done,” Katy continued. “Now, there is the law of cause and effect. You do something and there’s going to be a reaction. And trust me daddy, there’s going to be a reaction. It’s all about karma.” The clap-back continues. Aside from “Swish Swish,” a song many are calling a “diss track” against Swift, Perry’s upcoming album also features a collaboration with Kanye West called “Cold Hearted Snake” (a reference to the Kim Kardashian/Kanye/Taylor “Famous” saga, perhaps?). The pop star also appears on Swift’s ex Calvin Harris’ upcoming album. An explosion rocked an Ariana Grande concert in England Monday, sending scores of people running for safety and nearly 2 dozen are dead in what may be an act of terrorism. The concert was held at the Manchester Arena ... the explosions occurred at the end of Grande's concert. One of the concertgoers tweeted, "Just ran from an explosion, genuinely thought were going to die." The suicide bomber at Ariana Grande's concert did not act alone ... according to police who say they've nabbed another man in connection with the attack. Greater Manchester Police say they arrested the 23-year-old man Tuesday. They have not said what his connection is to the bomber, who was one of the 22 killed when he detonated the "nail bomb" Monday night in the rotunda at Manchester Arena. The bust seems to point to the bomber not acting as a so-called lone wolf. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack, claiming it was executed by one of its "soldiers." Ariana is inconsolable, and said to be "in hysterics" after the bombing. As one source said, she's incapable of performing for anyone. She and her team, we're told, are also deeply concerned about security. Ariana's manager, Scooter Braun, said, "We mourn the lives of children and loved ones taken by this cowardly act," adding, "We ask all of you to hold the victims, their families, and all those affected in your hearts and prayers." Our sources say Ariana is not concerned with her shows now, she and her team will re-evaluate the touring schedule when she's emotionally ready. Bodies were strewn in the rotunda outside the seating area where Ariana Grande had just finished her performance at the Manchester Arena. As we reported, at least 22 people were killed ... the victims as young as 8. 59 people were injured from the nail bomb that exploded in a backpack. The fatalities occurred from a stampede that followed. SISTAR will break up after their comeback at the end of May. The 4-piece girl group, which made their official debut with “Push Push” back in 2010 and dropped their first LP So Cool in 2011 (and even briefly became a source of distraction of an episode of Family Guy), will go their separate ways following the release of their final comeback on May 31, according to a note left by their agency, Starship Entertainment. “Hello, this is Starship Entertainment. First, we want to thank all the fans who have cherished and loved SISTAR for the 7 years since they debuted. SISTAR will officially end their 7-year promotions as a group with their last album on May 31st. After our label and SISTAR talked for a long time, we have agreed to bring SISTAR to an end. SISTAR’s disbandment is a very disappointing and a painful thing, but we believe that it is the best to support the road that each member wants. We will be doing our best to support the members’ futures. SISTAR and the label thanks everyone once again for the large support we have received. Please show warm support and interest to the SISTAR members, who are standing at a new start in life. Thank you.” Since the news was released, each member of SISTAR — Hyolyn, Bora, Dasom and Soyou — penned individual letters to their heartbroken fans on social media. While each member’s solo plans are still to be determined as to whether they’ll continue to pursue music or dive into acting, the group is still planning to promote their final album together, featuring a lead single crafted by songwriting team Black Eyed Pilseung, which also penned “I Like That” and “Touch My Body” for the troupe. The group’s agency also released a video send-off featuring all four of the girls, as well as a short goodbye poem in the description. The new Lifetime and Netflix movies about Michael Jackson and his pet monkey, Bubbles, may or may not feature MJ's music. Sources close to Michael Jackson's estate told TMZ the new movie, 'Searching for Neverland' and the recently announced animated feature, "Bubbles," are not authorized -- therefore, they're not allowed to use ANY of Michael's materials ... especially his music. It's reported MJ's estate is holding off on legal action for now, but if they hear anything like, oh let's say "Billie Jean," "Thriller," "Beat It," "Rock with You," "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" or any of his hits ... they'll round up the lawyers. The reason they're not heading to court now is that the estate reps haven't seen the movies. 'Searching for Neverland' drops next week, though, so things could change by Monday, Drake received a record 13 awards at the Billboard Music Awards Sunday (May 21) night. Drake was nominated for a whopping 22 BBMAs at the awards show.
Before the ceremony, Drizzy was already being awarded; during the broadcast, he won for Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album and Top Artist, among other major awards. In his acceptance speech, he thanked Ludacris and put to bed any notion of bad blood between himself and the Atlanta rap vet. “I wanna say Ludacris, I know we haven’t always seen eye to eye, but I’ve always been a big fan of yours, man,” he said. “I’ve got a love for you. I want to let you know that face to face while we’re still here.” Drake also performed “Gyalchester” in the Fountains of Bellagio. His big night broke Adele’s previous record set in 2012, when the superstar singer took home 12 trophies. As promised with some social media teasers leading up to this Monday morning moment (May 22),Lana Del Rey's “Lust For Life” music video has arrived, complete with her frequent partner-in-crime and collaborator, The Weeknd. Kicking off with what looks like a vintage TV performance with back-up dancers, the ever-enchanting Lana soon grows tiresome of all the strenuous arm-swaying and soft dipping in sync and decides to ditch the set and take off to the Hollywood sign, where she’s been hiding this whole album era cooking up her latest studio album. Her BFF Abel is already up there waiting, of course, and together the two romantically gaze at each other and out at the city below. Katy Perry is getting $25 MILLION to judge "American Idol" ... this according to sources familiar with the negotiation. Multiple sources say ABC was desperate to sign a name before the Upfronts last week, when executives announced she was the lead judge. As one source put it, "Katy had all the leverage. If ABC ended up announcing the show without a judge, they'd be screwed." Back in 2012 'American Idol' was trying to get Katy as a judge but she rejected the network's $20 mil offer. I guess 2nd time, and an extra $5 Million is the charm ABC tried to get Kelly Clarkson but at the last minute she jumped ship and went to NBC's "The Voice." NBC also snagged Jennifer Hudson. It's also being rumored that ABC is "on the verge" of signing the deal with Ryan Seacrest to host the show. Sources connected with the first run of 'Idol' say Ryan was making $15 mil a season at his high point. We're told Jennifer Lopez was also raking in $15 mil a season. |
