Sky Ferreira's record label locked her out of her own SoundCloud account. In a post on Instagram directed at SoundCloud, she claims that she was “forced” to hand over the account information to her label after her debut studio album Night Time, My Time came out in 2013. “They gave me the wrong information & changed it so I can no longer access it,” she says.
“I earned the hundreds of thousands of people that follow the account without my label & have never had help/paid for anything on social media or whatever. I think soundcloud as the website that allows musicians to have freedom.” Ferreira continued the post by asking for the streaming platform to “please help” her situation. See the full post below.
In the past, Ferreira voiced her concerns with the music industry. She’s also expressed difficulties in working with Polydor and EMI, citing label troubles as the reason for the delay of her upcoming album Masochism. In December, she announced plans to release a “heavily visual” new project by the end of 2018.
“Unfortunate (some absurd) circumstances that were beyond my reach kept [the album] from happening,” she said in an Instagram post from June. “It is my fault for not saying something sooner & letting it all repeat itself.” In January, Ferreira teased a “heavily visual” new musical project slated to drop this year.
