On Saturday (Feb. 24), former Def Jam artist Foxy Brown went on Twitter to voice her support for the embattled rap mogul. In her “open letter,” the veteran rapper called Simmons a “respected gentleman” and encouraged her followers to send him love. She wrote:
Attesting to the character of the man who, as a teenager saved my life. Salaciousness and scandal garners headlines. Cowards, cower. But as inarguably, Russell’s biggest Def Jam female protege, (who birthed an era of overtly evocative stars), the man I’ve known and loved, was nothing more than the respectful, respected, gentleman and GODFATHER OF HIP-HOP we’ve all adored. In staunch support, Praying for you Russ! Let’s send our LOVE. Fox @unclerush"
Last year, over a dozen women, including fashion publicist Kelly Cutrone and Insecure actress Amanda Seales and, have come forward about Simmons' alleged sexual misconduct.
One woman, Jennifer Jarosik, has filed a $5 million lawsuit against Simmons. She claims the Def Jam co-founder sexually assaulted her after inviting her to his home in 2016. Simmons has since denied the allegations put forth in the lawsuit. The NYPD is currently investigating a number of rape allegations brought against the rap mogul. Simmons recently announced that he’s “temporarily closed for spiritual maintenance”. The 60-year-old says he's in Bali "writing, meditating at holy sites and practicing asanas. "[I'm] focusing and praying to realize one goal, BEING A MORE USEFUL SERVANT OF GOD," he wrote on his IG page. "I want to fully devote myself to my daughters, the underserved communities I've always worked with and the growth of a new conscious community." "We need a revolution of consciousness. Now is the time for new beginnings. One awakened being at time," he concluded.

“So, before I open up my newest collection I just wanted to tell you guys a little bit of the background,” Jenner began her video announcement while unveiling the lightning blue packaging for her latest line, the aptly titled Weather Collection. “I worked on this pretty much my entire pregnancy. And right after we chose Stormi’s name, her name really inspired me.”
The Weather Collection features a sparkly loose powder highlighter, Flash shimmering lip glosses, and two new 10-shade eye palettes decorated with lightning strikes to complement the brand's overall weather concept.
The first palette, called Calm Before the Storm, comes in electric yellow packaging; the second, Eye of the Storm, comes in a navy blue case. The former features more striking and daring hues like Whirl Wind, Celestial, and Stargaze, whereas the latter emphasizes softer, brighter-toned shades like Angel, Aquarius, and Sweet Sweet.
Sources say Kylie is “very involved and hands-on” with her little one and “she’s never seemed happier.”
Quincy Jones Apologizes For "Word Vomit" Interview About Michael Jackson, Richard Pryor and More2/22/2018
A couple weeks ago Quincy Jones did an in-depth interview with Vulture, spilling the beans on dating Ivanka Trump, working with Michael Jackson who allegedly stole songs and even the sex life between Marlon Brando and Richard Pryor.
Since his interview was released a few people had some things to say such as Michael's former friend and lawyer, who said "celebrities need therapy too," Richard's daughter, who said Quincy is "losing his mind" and Richard's widow who confirmed he and Marlon slept together. Since the aftermath of his somewhat controversial comments, Quincy has since released a statement apologizing for his "wordvomit" and "bad-mouthing." Apparently, his daughters called an intervention to talk to him about the "silly things" he had said in his headling making interview. “I have LEARNED MY LESSON! Let me tell you, I’m so grateful for my daughters because they aren’t scared to stand up to their daddy. I am an imperfect human & I’m not afraid to say it. And I’m sorry & I’m not afraid to say it,” he writes. "When you’ve been fortunate enough to have lived such a long and crazy life (and you’ve recently stopped drinking – three years ago!), certain details about specific events (which do NOT paint the full picture of my intentions nor experiences) come flooding back all at once, and even at 85, it’s apparent that ‘wordvomit’ and bad-mouthing is inexcusable." Netflix has released the first trailer for Roxanne Roxanne, a biopic about the life of Roxanne Shanté, who gave females a voice in hip-hop during the early 1980s. The trailer stars Chante Adams who plays the 14-year-old Lolita Shanté Gooden (aka Roxanne Shanté) who hustles the hard way to provide for her family while protecting herself from the dangers of the streets. In the beginning we see Nia Long, who plays Shanté’s stern mother Peggy, who locks the door at 9 p.m.., even if her daughter is locked outside. From there we get a flurry of clips of Shanté's harrowing journey from the streets to eventually the stage where she rocks the mic. The trailer also features Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali who plays her boyfriend Cross and Kevin Phillips who portrays legendary hip-hop producer Marley Marl who gave Shanté her big break. Roxanne Roxanne is written and directed by Michael Larnell and produced by Pharrell Williams and Forest Whitaker. The film will arrive in select theaters in New York and Los Angeles, and stream on Netflix starting March 23. |
