Al Sharpton is Calling for Judge to Be Removed from Meek Mill's Case

Reverend Al Sharpton is heading the battle to have Meek Mill released from prison. In his latest attempt, the civil rights leader has sent a letter to Judge Sheila A. Woods-Skipper, the current judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia, requesting that Judge Genece Brinkley be removed from handling Meek Mill’s case.

Judge Brinkley was the person who sentenced Mill to 2 to 4 years in prison after the rapper violated his probation. Since then, attorneys have filed an appeal with the state Superior Court, requesting that Mill be released due to Judge Brinkley's alleged misconduct in the case. Last week, Mill was denied bail for the second time by Judge Brinkley who called him a "danger to the community."

In Sharpton's letter he writes:

Mr. Williams, in my view, has been subjected to an injustice. Judge Brinkley has been deaf to the questions raised about her potential conflicts of interest with Mr. Williams or simply has disregarded her oath of office to carry out her duties in a manner consistent with the Code of Conduct for Judges of the Court of Common Pleas. I understand the gravity of raising such an issue concerning the conduct of a Judge. I am compelled in this matter to speak truth to power.

I believe that Judge Brinkley must be removed from the case involving Mr. Williams and a Judge assigned who can conduct and preside in a fair and impartial manner.

There's no word if Judge Sheila A. Woods-Skipper has read Sharpton's letter. Attorneys for Meek Mill had no comment on the matter.
