The world’s largest Korean culture and K-pop music festival, today announced that the first ever KCON Mexico will take place at the Mexico City Arena, located in the Azcapotzalco neighborhood, on March 17-18. xx and xx were revealed as the first two artist scheduled to perform.
KCON Mexico joins the list of successful KCON conventions and concerts that have taken place all over the world. Since 2012, when the first KCON was held in Southern California, the festival has become a global celebration of Hallyu – a.k.a. Korean culture and entertainment – taking place as multi-day festivals in the U.S., France, Japan, and United Arab Emerites. KCON, which added Abu Dhabi and Paris dates for the first time last year, tallied more than 180,000 total attendees worldwide in 2016. “As interest in Hallyu continues to grow, particularly in the West, KCON’s expansion follows,” said Angela Killoren, COO, CJ E&M America. “It was only a matter of time before the festival came to Latin America, which has over the years been the home of a building passion for Korean culture. Bringing the celebration to Mexico City is the next logical stop for KCON and we are looking forward to connecting fans in Mexico unprecedented access to their K-pop idols and engagement with other young people from the region.” KCON 2017 Mexico will feature two full days of convention programming covering every aspect of Korean culture including K-beauty, Korean food, K-drama, Korean film and more. Also included in the schedule will be artist meet and greets where fans will be able to come face to face with their favorite performers. Each day will close with a star studded concert featuring the top artists from Korean pop music.
