The MTV Video Music Awards are approaching fast.
MTV announced this year’s nominees for the VMAs almost one year to the day 2016’s noms dropped.
This year’s leader of the pack, Kendrick Lamar, with eight total nods. Following not-so-closely behind is The Weeknd with five nominations, and a whole bunch of folks with four or less, including Bruno Mars and DJ Khaled.
Close to a 100 people were hospitalized following Chance the Rapper‘s concert in Connecticut on Friday, CBS reports.
Many of the people hospitalized were underage attendees who experienced “severe intoxication,” Hartford Deputy Chief Brian Foley said in a statement on July 21.
Foley revealed that 50 underage drinking referrals were made by officers during the Hot 93.7 Hot Jam concert at the Xfinity Theatre, with some arrested and many issued a summons to appear in court.
Reports have surfaced that Dr. Dre might be working on Eminem’s ninth studio album.
In an interview with Uproxx, Allan Hughes, who directed the Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine documentary, The Defiant Ones, revealed that the 52-year-old producer is always in the studio making beats. “Dre still records,” he said. “People don’t know this: Dre records every day. Literally, he’s in there recording songs every day. He’s like Picasso in that way. He’s always painting.”
When Tyler, the Creator‘s new album Scum F-ck Flower Boy leaked late Sunday night, fans got perhaps more than they bargained for. Within hours of the album appearing online, his track “I Ain’t Got Time!” stirred speculation over its highly-contested allusion to Tyler’s sexuality.
“Next line will have ’em like ‘whoa’ / I been kissing white boys since 2004” seemed like a literal enough piece of evidence, and a few tracks later on “Garden Shed,” he drops the line “That was real love I was in, Ain’t no reason to pretend,” and later, “All my friends was lost / They couldn’t read the signs / I didn’t want to talk / I tell ’em my location and they ain’t want to walk.”
Kelsea Ballerini announced on Good Morning America that she’s been keeping the information a secret for so long that she couldn’t wait to reveal that her sophomore album will be out in the late Fall.
Ballerini detailed the process behind creating and finalizing the album, noting that she had written over 200 songs in preparation.
