GUY Sebastian has fuelled rumours that The X Factor is headed for the chopping block.
“I think the speculation is probably fairly accurate, it was a disappointing year,” said the inaugural Australian Idol winner from Tamworth, where he was attended the Toyota Star Maker grand finale yesterday afternoon.
“X Factor was always going to be a very short thing for me,” the star confessed.
Taylor Sebastian, who himself came to prominence via a talent show 14 years ago now, confirmed that even if the Seven format does return, he will not.
“X Factor was always going to be a very short thing for me. I wasn’t going to do last year, and it came back that it was only a very short run, so I did it,” the father-of-two added.
Last year, only 751,000 tuned in to see Isaiah Firebrace take out the title — significantly down on over 1.045 million viewers that saw the winner crowned back in 2015.

Lambert and the Fancy singer also didn’t get along, with the sometimes Queen frontman calling the rapper from Mullumbimby a diva.
“She shows up late, you never know what you’re going to get with her. It is never boring. I will tell you that,” he said.
