BTS is one of the biggest acts in the world right now, and they’ve just launched a new mobile game appropriately named BTS World on iPhone and Android in many regions, including here in the US.
The premise of the game has you traveling back in time to 2012 and acting as a manager at Big Hit, BTS’s agency, and tasked with getting the boys together and helping to make them famous at the beginning of their career. The game is unique because unlike many other celebrity-based titles, this almost exclusively uses real photos and videos of BTS rather than animated stand-ins, meaning fans will be staring at an actual member of BTS for probably 98% of the time they’re playing, much to their delight. The boys will appear on screen and pose in different ways as you converse with them, kind of like a dating sim (though I don’t believe you can actually date any of them, that would just be too unprofessional as their manager!). The game has arrived on the Apple iOS store with nearly perfect reviews and I’ve seen a lot of fans raving about it online, so it seems to be exactly what they wanted from a big BTS mobile title. Interestingly, the company that makes the game, Netmarble, South Korea’s largest mobile publisher, also owns 25% of Big Hit Entertainment, the BTS agency you’re working for in this game. Synergy!
