Curren$y just released a new mixtape titled The Champagne Files, a project that he reportedly recorded in just one studio session.
The featureless tape consists of 10 songs, and it should tie Spitta’s fans over until his next full length album. Spitta’s been busy this year, as he previously released TheFo20 Massacre, a mixtape inspired by the marijuana-enthusiast holiday 4/20, and The Jetlanta EP at the top of this year. Spitta also finally made his Pilot Talk Trilogy available on all streaming platforms for fans’ enjoyment.

ustin’s ending the final leg of his tour early, canceling 14 shows beginning with his Arlington, TX stop this weekend. It’s “unclear” why he made the decision to scrap the final dates, but one ‘tour source’ says it’s because he’s “just over it.” Justin Bieber’s camp says it’s due to “unforeseen circumstances,” and that tickets will be refunded to fans. The Purpose World Tour kicked off in Seattle last March and stretched around the world over the past year, with just over a dozen shows left to go. The canceled tour stops included Minneapolis, East Rutherford and Toronto. Kehlani, Martin Garrix, Migos and Vic Mensa were meant to open those shows. A.R.M.Y. members are on standby for BTS to make their latest return to the music scene in September.
Big Hit Entertainment confirmed on Monday (Jul. 24) to Newsen that the group is aiming for a September comeback. “BTS is preparing for a new release aimed for a September comeback,” they confirmed in a statement (translation via Soompi), adding that “it is not yet decided whether it will be a full album or mini album.” This will be the 2017 BBMAs winners‘ second comeback in 2017, following their Wings repackage album released in February, You Never Walk Alone, which spawned record-breaking smash hit singles “Not Today” and “Spring Day.” Close to a 100 people were hospitalized following Chance the Rapper‘s concert in Connecticut on Friday, CBS reports.
Many of the people hospitalized were underage attendees who experienced “severe intoxication,” Hartford Deputy Chief Brian Foley said in a statement on July 21. Foley revealed that 50 underage drinking referrals were made by officers during the Hot 93.7 Hot Jam concert at the Xfinity Theatre, with some arrested and many issued a summons to appear in court. Tailgating was “extremely prevalent” at the concert, Foley shared, adding that much of the crowd consisted of “people in their late teens and early 20s.” It had been reported that the Linkin Park Chester Bennington's suicide by hanging himself. This has now been confirmed by the Los Angeles County Department Medical Examiner – Coroner in a newly released document on the office’s website.
Dr. Christopher Rogers and investigator Nani Cholakians are both named on the report, which also listed no other significant causes regarding Bennington’s death and that the case is closed. No toxicology report has been carried out as of yet and other reports have indicated that a partially empty bottle of alcohol was in the room that the singer had died in. Bennington was found dead by an employee at his Palos Verdes Estates home around 9AM PT on Thursday (July 20) morning. An undisclosed bandmate was en route to bring Bennington to a scheduled photo shoot and arrived as police were on the scene. Linkin Park were also scheduled to launch their North American tour on July 27, which has now officially been canceled. The vocalist had been open about previous struggles with substance abuse and his battle with inner demons. He had discussed them publicly as recent as this year, even telling Rock Sound, ““So, it’s really great to be able to be doing what I do, especially for a person like me. If it wasn’t for music I’d be dead. One hundred percent.” The rock world has been devastated by this tragedy, still reeling from the loss of Chris Cornell, and Bennington’s suicide took place on Cornell’s birthday and in the same manner. Many have offered their tributes and condolences on social media and others, like Disturbed‘s David Draiman and Otep Shamaya, have released touching statements individually.
Following the release of his Bad Boy Records documentary, Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop, Diddy just released two new songs on the 48th episode of OVO Sound Radio on Saturday (July 23). The rap mogul played “Watcha Gon’ Do,” a 90-inspired track featuring the late Notorious B.I.G. and Rick Ross along with it’s accompanying remix.
On the song, which samples EPMD’s classic track “You’re a Customer,” the rap trifecta are spitting braggadocios lyrics about their lavish lifestyle while brushing off the haters. Diddy is up first rapping, “See, lame n—-s gonna do lame s— / How you flexing when your crew ain’t s— / N—-, you ain’t s— / Probably trick on something you ain’t hit / Try to do me but the shoe ain’t fit, and your jewels ain’t lit.” Meanwhile, delivers some tough talk and a little bit of floss. “Big blunts and grass, Maybach on a dash / 40 carat gold Cartier on a class / Mink coats with shooters in of the Land Cruiser / My maneuvers sparking these lil’ rumors / Duffle bags, Percocets, the Rugers / Still the smoothest at roughing up all the jewelers,” he rhymes. Finally, Biggie’s verse is sampled from “Hustler’s Story” from his posthumous album, Duets: Final Chapter. Big Poppa raps, “N—-s talkin’ it but ain’t livin’ it / Crystal pops I’m sippin’ it, mob hats and lizard shit / ‘Gator trunks bitch, rollin’ blunts with the williest of the willy / Heckler Koch, M-1’s and nine millies.” Diddy also debuted the “Dre Day” remix of the song, which samples Dr. Dre’s Chronic anthem “Nuthin’ but a G Thang,” with ad-libs from M.I.A. LISTEN TO IT HERE Following the death of lead singer Chester Bennington, who took his own life late Wednesday night (July 19), Linkin Park has cancelled the rest of the tour.
In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, Live Nation shared, “We are incredibly saddened to hear about the passing of Chester Bennington. The Linkin Park One More Light North American Tour has been canceled and refunds are available at point of purchase. Our thoughts go out to all those affected.” On Friday (July 21), it was revealed that Bennington’s death was reported to authorities as a “suicide by hanging.” JAY-Z continues to drop videos from 4:44. On Friday (July 22), at exactly 4:44PM, Jay released the visual for “Kill JAY-Z,” one of his most talked-about tracks from the project.
The Tidal-exclusive clip, directed by Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz, begins with a young man who is running away from something that might do him some harm. You can see the anguish on the young man’s face while donning a “Stay Black” T-shirt. From there we see an aerial shot of man in the desert and another person (possibly the young man) swimming in the ocean. The “Kill JAY-Z” video follows the same treatment as in the “BMA” visual, in which JAY raps in acappella and the beat is switched up to varying speeds. The video follows clips for “The Story of O.J.,” “4:44” and the Damian Marley-assisted “BAM.” JAY-Z’s 4:44 is currently the No. 1 album in the country and has received high praise from fans and critics alike. Even designer and writer Monica Lewinsky praised Hov for displaying his vulnerability on the project. You can watch JAY-Z’s “Kill JAY-Z” video exclusively at Tidal. Superjoint has been touring sporadically in support of their comeback record, Caught Up in the Gears of Application. Their abrasive gutter-punk sludge will play out on stages across the country this fall as they’ve just announced a headlining U.S. jaunt dubbed ‘The Broken Bones Tour.’ DevilDriver, who will wrap up their own headlining run the day before this new trek starts, will serve as direct support with King Parrot, Cane Hill and Child Bite rounding out the bill. Old school rules only. Leave your fashion statement at home or at the door. Individuals unite for one night only (at a place near you), and then disperse like wildfire to dry pages. Bring it on sisters and brothers. Always championing the underdogs of this world and the underground since 1988,” Anselmo boasted. “They say lightning doesn’t strike twice?! That’s complete bulls–t! If you live in the United States of America get f–king ready! Superjoint was DevilDriver’s first tour and one of the most memorable tours of my life time and now we are gearing up to do it again on ‘The Broken Bones Tour,'” exclaimed DevilDriver’s Dez Fafara. DevilDriver will be out in support of 2016’s Trust No One, while King Parrot will tout 2015’s Dead Set.
