Pop Goddess Kesha is making up for lost time, dropping another music video, this time for the song "Learn to Let Go" is more than just a song title for Kesha: "It's become one of my mantras over the last few years," the singer tweeted Thursday (July 27) as she released the video. In the video for the third advance track from her upcoming album, Rainbow, Kesha shares home video footage of herself as a child, running in nature, singing and dancing wildly. "As much as our past creates who we are, we can't let it define us or hold us back," Kesha writes in a letter on Huffington Post, describing the inspiration for the song. "And especially if you've been through something hard, and we all have, you can't hold on to resentment because it's like a poison. You have to learn to let go of those bad feelings and move forward." Alongside her two previously released tracks, "Praying" and "Woman," it appears Kesha has created an album full of empowerment anthems, since her past legal battles with producer Dr. Luke. Rainbow is due Aug. 11.

Despite telling the New York Times that “all award shows are fake,” Katy Perry will join all the fakers and host the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards, airing live from The Forum in California on Sunday, August 27.
“I’ve been training with MTV in zero gravity, eating astronaut ice cream, and I’m on a group text with Buzz Aldrin and Neil deGrasse Tyson. Come August 27th, I’ll be ready to be your MOONWOMAN! Brace for impact, kids,” Perry said of her preparation routine in a statement, according to Variety. The five-time VMA-nominated singer previously hosted MTV’s European Music Awards in 2008 and 2009. Previously, Perry took home the 2011 Video of the Year Award for “Firework,” the 2011 Best Special Effects and Best Collaboration Awards for “E.T.,” the 2012 Best Art Direction Award for “Wide Awake” and the 2014 Best Female Video Award for “Dark Horse.” In 2017, she’s nominated for best pop, best direction and best visual effects awards for “Chained to the Rhythm,” plus best art direction for “Bon Appetit” and Best Collaboration with Calvin Harris, Pharrell Williams and Big Sean for “Feels.” Macklemore spoke with Zane Lowe for Apple Music on Wednesday and premiered his latest song, “Marmalade.” Teaming up with Lil Yachty, the two rap over a beat similar to the “Broccoli” instrumental. During his interview with Lowe, Macklemore praised Lil Boat for his originality, saying, “Yachty to me is super dope… I think that he brings a new young voice to the game and is completely himself and not afraid to do him.” The Seattle rapper also revealed a few details about his yet-to-be-named upcoming album. “I always try to give a different palette of sounds and textures and vibes. [With] this album… I was in a good place man,” he said. “There’s some darker songs, for sure, but, for the most part, like, if I’m in a happy place and life is good, then that’s gonna be reflected on the album.” As for his relationship with Lewis, Macklemore says there’s no bad blood between the two. “Ryan and I had worked together for 10 years,” he said. “It was a mutual decision. Back about a year ago, we were like, let’s take some space.” Selena Gomez gets hot and steamy in her new video for “Fetish,” featuring Gucci Mane. It’s the first single from her forthcoming album, her first since 2015’s Revival. The clip finds the 25-year-old rolling around on the floor in a torn dressed, right after she rips her tights and pierces her own tongue. Clearly, the director Petra Collins did a stellar job of combining angst and sex appeal, and Selena certainly gets credit for giving a convincing performance. Later in the video, Gucci swings by dressed in a black and red shirt, while he sports a huge medallion. Before releasing the new “Fetish” single a couple of weeks ago, Selena has been in the news a lot for dating The Weeknd — like when they were seen smooching in Los Angeles or when she brought the Starboy a pricey birthday gift. As of now, there’s no word as to when Selena’s new album will arrive but to hold you over, you can watch her new video above. Charli XCX latest single, “Boys,” self-directed (alongside Sarah McColgan) music video with BOYS'...alot of 'em. The track, co-created with LAUV, Emily Warren, Jerker Hansson and Cass Lowe, is Charli’s latest release since debuting her critically hailed Number 1 Angel mixtape earlier in the year. She’s now ready to venture out on tour with Halsey in the fall. “’Boys’ is my favorite music video I’ve ever made. I just wanna say a big thanks to all the boys involved, for totally embracing and understanding my vision and being excited by the concept. p.s. no boys were harmed in the making of this video,” she says. Ballerini detailed the process behind creating and finalizing the album, noting that she had written over 200 songs in preparation. “For this record, the two filters I had for picking songs were that I wanted to know that it was going to go over well live, and I wanted to be able to see a music video in my head, because those were two things that I had no idea about on my first record,” she said. The MTV Video Music Awards are approaching fast.
MTV announced this year’s nominees for the VMAs almost one year to the day 2016’s noms dropped. This year’s leader of the pack, Kendrick Lamar, with eight total nods. Following not-so-closely behind is The Weeknd with five nominations, and a whole bunch of folks with four or less, including Bruno Mars and DJ Khaled. This year the 2017 VMAs will honor just one winner in the Best Artist category. That’s actually a very tight race between all the artists, if you consider the only rivalries stemming from acts big here in the states. Additionally, new category “Best Fight Against the System” offers a category unlikely to be seen at any other music awards program. In an era where there are countless ceremonies and awards shows, MTV is certainly doing what it can to ensure the VMAs remain relevant. Whether or not celebrating just one artist supreme and focusing on videos with a political message pays off will remain to be seen until this August. The 2017 MTV Video Music Awards take place on August 27. You can vote once per category, per day until voting closes ahead of the show. Check out the full list of nominees below, and best of luck to all those in the running. Now, the band has released a short teaser trailer for the film. Featuring snippets of the hits “Iron Man” and “Paranoid,” the clip captures the madness that was the band’s final tour which wrapped in February of this year in their hometown of Birmingham, England. Additional footage will be shown from behind the scenes, which includes the heavy metal legends in the studio performing songs which they didn’t get around to doing live on the last time around. According to a press release, “The film brings fans the up close and personal story of the final, emotionally charged concert, as the band perform hits, including ‘Iron Man,’ ‘Paranoid,’ ‘War Pigs’ and many more. Join Sabbath in the studio, as they deliver unique and exclusive performances of some of their favorite songs not played on the tour, and catch an intimate glimpse into the band’s world; the music, relationships and banter, alongside personal anecdotes.” “To bring it all back home after all these years was pretty special,” Black Sabbath said in a statement. “It was so hard to say goodbye to the fans, who’ve been incredibly loyal to us through the years. We never dreamed in the early days that we’d be here 49 years later doing our last show on our home turf.” Black Sabbath: The End of the End will screen in movie theaters around the world on Sept. 28. Get ticketing details, where the film will be playing and additional information at the event website. R. Kelly is prepared to defend his most recent sex allegations and has reportedly hired a high-profile attorney.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Kelly has hired Monique Pressley to help him fight against claims that he is holding women against their will in a sex cult. Pressley was a former lawyer of Bill Cosby but left his legal team in August 2016. While Pressley has refused to comment on the report, Kelly is also being represented by Linda Mensch, who recently issued a statement on the singer’s behalf. “Mr. Robert Kelly is both alarmed and disturbed at the recent revelations attributed to him. Mr. Kelly unequivocally denies such allegations and will work diligently and forcibly to pursue his accusers and clear his name,” the statement read. After the release of R. Kelly’s statement, a father of one of the alleged victims said he was ready for a legal battle. “You know the reason why Ms. Jocelyn Savage didn’t tell you where her location is? She’s not allowed to tell you her location,” said Tim Savage. “Mr. R. Kelly, if you wanna file a lawsuit, you should of filed it yesterday. I’m waiting on you. File a lawsuit. If that’s what you what wanna do, I’ll see you in court. File it, so everybody can see your dirty laundry.” |
