Universal Music Group Donating $500,000 to Manchester Victims

Universal Music Group is giving $500,000 to the victims of the terrorist attack last week at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England that killed 22 people and injured more than 100.

Grande, who is signed to Universal’s Republic label, returned to the stage Sunday night for a benefit show along with other artists including Universal’s Justin Bieber and Katy Perry. The proceeds from the “One Love Manchester” show will go to an emergency fund set up by the Red Cross and the city of Manchester to support the victims and their families.

"The Universal Music Group global family is proud to stand with Ariana Grande and its other performing artists in their support for the victims and families affected by the Manchester attack with a combined donation of $500,000 to the 'We Love Manchester Emergency Fund,'" the record company said in a statement.

Other headlining artists are making their own donations as well, as are a range of other companies including Warner Music Group, sources tell Billboard. Sony Music Entertainment's U.K. division donated money to the cause immediately following the attack.

The concert was Grande's first appearance since the attack  and was broadcast on ABC, BBC TV, BBC Radio and Capital Radio Networks and live-streamed on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. IHeartMedia also broadcast the event live on more than 130 of its top-40 and contemporary-pop radio stations across the country.
