The Foo Fighters Added a Sixth Member For Now

Even though former Wallflowers keyboardist Rami Jaffe has performed and recorded with the Foo Fighters for more than 10 years, it wasn’t until this week that frontman Dave Grohl confirmed that he’s a full-fledged member of the band.

In an interview on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show following the surprise release of the Foo Fighters’ single and video “Run.” “You know, it’s just so easy when the five of us, six of us now, get together,” Grohl said, before Lowe interrupted, “That’s official by the way?” Grohl responded, “Who, Rami? Rami’s been in for 14 years or something, it’s been awhile.”

Grohl went on to sing Jaffe’s praises, saying ““He’s such a big part of the band too. He’s amazing, if you’ve ever hung out with him, he’s the sweetest guy in the world. He’s one of the most talented people I’ve ever met. He’s amazing, but when we get together and play, it sounds the way it sounds.”

But while Jaffe began working with the band since 2005’s In Your Honor, he’s never been mentioned as an official member of the band, and it wasn’t until the release of “Run” that he made it into the band photo.

“Run” is the Foo Fighters’ second debut in a few weeks. Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins performed “The Sky Is a Neighborhood” at the Acoustic-4-A-Cure benefit in San Francisco last month.
