The Flaming Lips & Miley Cyrus' Psychedelic Orgy of Sound In, 'We a Famly'

The Flaming Lips and Miley Cyrus are at it again on their psychedelic ode to togetherness, "We a Famly," which dropped on Friday (Jan. 6) and will appear on the Lips' upcoming album, Oczy Mlody (Jan. 13).

The four-and-a-half minute-long track is another patented slice of trippy Lips psychedelia, mixing acoustic guitars with burbling synths and singer Wayne Coyne's scratchy falsetto. "It's been a long cold winter/ Feels like it's been forever, yeah/ We both traveled," he sings. "I'm somewhere south of Wichita/ You're somewhere up there under the moon." Amid buzzing and clanging bells Coyne paints a picture of Jesus beaming down from a spaceship while repeating the winsome chorus, "we a famly."

Cyrus, her voice tweaked by AutoTune, shows up halfway through to repeat Coyne's first verse as their voices join to sing "you and me, you and me... we a famly." It's just the latest collabo between the unlikely duo, who worked together on the free 2015 album Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz, as well as 2015's "My Sad Christmas Song" and a cover of the Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds."
