Korean boy band Seventeen dropped their first Japanese single “Call Call Call!” this week. Released on Wednesday (May 16), “Call Call Call!” is a festive tune that blends the 13-member boy band’s typically funky sound with rock elements, as electric guitar riffs drive much of the melody. The single arrived ahead of Seventeen's first Japanese EP We Make You, which is slated for a May 30 release date. Seventeen is one of several K-pop acts shifting focus to the Japanese market; acts such as TWICE and BTS are immensely popular and their singles regularly appear for several weeks on the Japan Hot 100, while GFriend will also be releasing their first original Japanese music later this month. "Call Call Call!" is Seventeen's second single of 2018, following the February release of "Thanks." The group also debuted its first subunit BSS in March with the song "Just Do it." They have topped the World Albums chart twice, and their SEVENTEEN Special Album: Director's Cut EP from February placed at No. 2.
