Regina Spektor’s new track “Birdsong,” is out today via Sire Records/Warner Bros. Records. The track is prominently featured in the lavish episode, “Panorama,” of the acclaimed Amazon series, The Romanoffs, Matthew Weiner’s Mad Men follow-up. Regina and Matthew’s collaboration was the natural outcome of a relationship formed when the two met at an event honoring Orange is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan and producer Shonda Rhimes. Their friendship was cemented when the two bonded over poetry, music, the creative process and their shared infatuation with Paul Simon at the American Academy of Poets’ Poetry and the Creative Mind in 2016. “Birdsong” debuts in a week that saw Regina fulfill one of her lifelong dreams: to perform with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. The performance, part of an evening curated and hosted by Ben Folds as a part of his DECLASSIFIED series, defied the traditional classical music presentation by offering exquisite renditions of seven of Regina’s songs including highlights of “Samson” and “Loveology,” along with classical works including the first movement of Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2, the Waltz from Khachaturian’s Masquerade Suite, and Dance of the Knights from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet – a piece Regina handpicked and introduced for the program. Regina will also join Cyndi Lauper’s star-studded event, Home for the Holidayson December 8th at New York's Beacon Theater. All proceeds will go to Lauper’s True Colors Fund, which helps homeless LGBTQ youth. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
