Madonna’s new album Madame X is due to drop next week. A few songs from the project have been released including singles “Medellín,” “I Rise,” “Crave,” and “Future.” Overnight, Madonna droppesd the music video for “Dark Ballet.” The video features Mykki Blanco in character as Joan of Arc, an all-time favorite of Madonna. “She fought the English and she won, still the French were not happy. Still they judged her,” Madonna says in a statement accompanying the new clip. “They said she was a man, they said she was a lesbian, they said she was a witch, and, in the end, they burned her at the stake, and she feared nothing. I admire that.” It’s a visual, dark treat, filled with sweeping cinematography, images of ancient European structures and religious iconography. Madame X is due out next Friday (June 14).
