James Van Der Beek is all set to play Diplo in a scripted television show. It will be the first series of its kind on Viceland, a joint venture between Vice Media and A+E Networks. The cable channel picked up What Would Diplo Do? for six episodes, the premise being based on a short that depicts “A Day in the Life” of the Major Lazer producer, also starring Van Der Beek. The show was created by Kevin Kusatsu, co-founder of Diplo's management firm TMWRK, and Ben Weiss, who oversees creation and distribution for Paradigm Talent Agency. The series was written by Van Der Beek and directed by Brandon Dermer, who has previously done music videos for artists including Major Lazer, Dillon Francis, Panic! At The Disco, and Every Time I Die. Dermer, Kusatsu, Diplo, and Van Der Beek are the program's executive producers. The short, also directed by Dermer, will serve as the show's pilot.
