Iggy Azalea recently parted ways with Def Jam after having much success with her 2014 single “Fancy” and album, The New Classic. She reportedly left the label when former CEO Steve Bartels refused to drop any more singles from her sophomore album. The rapper took to Twitter last summer to voice her frustration over the label no longer supporting her.
“Steve Bartels says he doesn’t want to release another single for my album, unfortunately — so that’s that,” she wrote in a now-deleted tweet. “I’m very unhappy with the way things have been handled too. I will make sure it’s not this way for ia3…I can assure you guys of that.” Bartels was outed and replaced by Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg. But it was already too late as she moved to Island shortly after her angry tweet was sent out, and before Rosenberg was in power. Her new home Island Records seems to have faith in Iggy and the new push is on! Her latest single “Savior” with Migos frontman Quavo seems to have received a significant push from her new label and might help Iggy get back on top.
