Today“Who We Are,”was just released from legendary punk band Descendents. Proceeds from the single will go to the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Written in the aftermath of the presidential election, “Who We Are” is a powerful protest song that lashes out against racist, sexist, and anti-immigrant attitudes. With its hopeful message of resistance, the track ultimately calls on listeners to fight fascism and “defend the rights of every woman and man.” “Who We Are” is available for purchase at iTunes and can be streamed at Spotify “Who We Are” arrives on the heels of Hypercaffium Spazzinate, the first Descendents album in 12 years and the band’s seventh studio effort since forming in 1978. Released last July, Hypercaffium Spazzinate was hailed as “a comeback album of blistering proportions” by The Line of Best Fit and “all kinetic energy from its first note to its very last” by The A.V. Club. The Guardian, meanwhile, praised Descendents’ “ability to switch seamlessly from bruising hardcore to sunbursts of pop melody.” Featuring bassist Karl Alvarez, vocalist Milo Aukerman, guitarist Stephen Egerton, and drummer Bill Stevenson, Descendents recently embarked on a headline tour of North America.
