Celine Dion took the stage during a special live event at the Theater at the Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday (April 3) to announce her Courage World Tour as well as a new album.
Dion’s Courage World Tour will be her first tour in a decade and will kick off in her home province with two shows at Videotron Centre in Quebec City (Sept. 18 and 20), followed by two shows in Montreal at the Bell Center (Sept. 26 and 27). Dion told the audience she planned to take a few weeks off to spend time with her family after the four shows in Quebec before heading back onto the road Oct. 16 for a concert at Ottawa’s Canadian Tire Centre. "I'm not going on tour with my kids. They're very mature and very independent," Celine told the audience. "Eleven days is the longest time I've been away from them. And two weeks on tour will be the longest time I will be away from my children." Courage will be Dion’s second world tour since launching her residency 17 years ago at the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace; her 132-show Taking Chances World Tour from 2008 was seen by more than 2.3 million fans and grossed $280 million. Dion holds the Billboard Boxscore record for highest-grossing residency of all time, with her New Day show that ran from 2003 to 2007 earning $385 million in ticket sales while her current residency has reported $245.5 million as of Dec. 2018. That number will likely grow — her Las Vegas residency has 28 final shows at Colosseum this summer. Dion performed a few of her most popular songs at the event, including “I’m Alive,” “Ashes,” and “My Heart Will Go On,” which were full of vocal acrobatics. The audience gave her a standing ovation.
