This was my first Matt and Kim show, and even though I was a fan of their music. I did not know what to expect live.
I had the pleasure of being in the pit, as I was getting ready to shoot, I chatted up a few Matt and Kim fanatics, who told me to be prepared for a wild ride, they made signs and were gracious enough to capture the moment for me on my phone, while I took pictures. The Brooklyn duo ran, and I mean ran onto stage and immediately began playing to a hyped up Hollywood Palladium crowd. Like I said earlier being a fan of M&K's music, and I expected a lively show, but, I didn’t anticipate it going completely bonkers. Kim is a show stealer, with an infectiously brash personality, as she stood on top of her drums and egged on the crowd, and Matt is the party starter. The duo cranked out their hits and a few covers, and by the end of the show, everyone was dancing together with balloon's and confetti in abundance. Although the concert followed a set list including a new song, Forever and Hey Now, Part Up, Barbra Streisand, Make a Mess and Please No More, to name a few, it seemed somewhat completely improvised. Even though it seemed al a blur after a night of jumping and singing, M&K's petal to the metal performance proved there’s no age limit on having fun. Matt and Kim would be on the top of my list for an awesome house-party, the duo looks like they were having the time of their life and was completely one with their audience.
