The Korea Herald reported that The Chainsmokers’ Andrew Taggart worked with BTS’ rappers -- Rap Monster, Suga, and J-Hope -- to create a track for the popular boy band’s upcoming Love Yourself: Her album. Reportedly, the song will be titled “Best of Me” and is an energetic EDM track that matches The Chainsmokers typical style.
It is the first time that the Korean act has collaborated with an American artist on an album track, and points to the group’s rising popularity in the international music scene. Following BTS’ Top Social Artist win at the BBMAs in May, the group met up with several artists, including Halsey, Camila Cabello, and The Chainsmokers. The EDM duo tweeted a photo to their official account with the boy band, promising to “see you guys this summer."
The news was reported on Sept. 11 in South Korea, a week before the release of BTS’ upcoming album and the same day that The Chainsmokers perform in Busan, followed by a performance the following day in Seoul.
There have already been over 1.05 million preorders of Her globally despite little confirmed information revealed about the album before its release on Sept. 18. It is the group’s first album since Wings and its extended version You Never Walk Alone. The upcoming album is expected be the first of an elongated project under the Love Yourself title, following several other long-term thematic concepts that the group’s released music under in the past.
