BoA, Queen of K-Pop™, is officially planning a return to the K-Pop music scene. After reports surfaced on Wednesday (Jan. 11) claiming that BoA was preparing to enter dance rehearsals and put the finishing touches on a mini-album due out in February, the superstar’s label, SM Entertainment, stepped in to clarify. “We are preparing for a new album, but the comeback date is undecided. It is unlikely that she will be returning in February,” the label confirmed in a statement. (Translation via Soompi.) So, probably not February. Still: she’s coming! BoA’s last South Korean studio album, Kiss My Lips, was released in May of 2015, followed by her BoA Special Live 2015: NOWNESS concert to commemorate 15 years in the music industry since her debut in 2001. Never one to be held down to just one territory, BoA also dropped a Japanese single (“Lookbook”) later that year. In 2016, BoA released a ballad in English for the LGBT-themed Japanese drama, Ooku. (Gay icon.) She also released a shimmering one-off dance single in South Korea called “No Matter What” with rapper Beenzino as part of SM Entertainment’s STATION project.
