Blink-182 Release 'Blame It On My Youth' Track

In addition Blink-182 announcing a co-headlining tour with Lil Wayne this summer, the band released a wistful new single, "Blame It On My Youth," on Wednesday (May 8) as part of their new deal with Columbia Records.

The song is the first taste of the band's upcoming album, their second with guitarist Matt Skiba (who replaced original member Tom DeLonge in 2015); no release date or title had been announced at press time.

"Blame" was produced by Tim Pagnotta (Strumbellas, Plain White T's) and it mines a similar vein of teen angst nostalgia that has been the group's stock-in-trade over the past decade. From the song's mix of skittery, double-time beats courtesy of drummer Travis Barker to singer Mark Hoppus' nasally remembrances about misspent youth and nostalgia for his "Safety Dance" and TV re-run days, the mid-tempo track is accompanied by a lyric video featuring graffitti artist Risk spelling out the lyrics on a wall.

"I wasn't made for the good life/ I ended up getting stuck on the side of the road/ I tripped and fell on hard times/ Tough breaks are the only kind I know," Skiba sings in the second verse. "I was left on a doorstep/ I was scared to death with nowhere we go/ Cut myself on the neighbor's fence/ That I hopped as the cops tried to take me in."
