The Gorillaz have officially announced that a new album called The Now Now, will be released this June.
The first fans heard that there was new music on the way came from the band's newly launched website, TheNowNow.tv, which features a teaser video of 2-D sitting with a guitar. Then, posters appeared at this weekend’s All Points East Festival in London which had the phrase “NO MORE UNICORNS ANYMORE"—the same phrase that recently appeared in artwork created by band cofounder Jamie Hewlett. This will be the band's sixth studio album, following the release of their fifth outing, Humanz, which dropped last year. That album featured D.R.A.M., Vince Staples and more. Prior to that album, the band had't released a project in seven years, since 2010's The Fall (which was first released to fans then released worldwide in 2011). Last year, Hewlett explained that they were planning to follow up Humanz quickly.' “Usually we have a good five years break but this time we decided to keep going,” Hewlett said at the time. “I’m inventing a new style for the next Gorillaz album." Gorillaz's new project, The Now Now drops on June 29.
Ariana Grande is releasing a new track with Nicki Minaj soon.
On Sunday evening (May 27), Grande delivered the sweetest surprise to her Arianators with the first listen of her fresh collab with the Queen rapper on a track called "The Light Is Coming."
In the preview clip above, Grande lip-syncs the lyrics to her sassy tell off, which opens to Minaj spitting bars like, "Why you have to make me go call up my side guy?/ Can't let an F-boy eff up my vibe/ Yo Ariana, come let me give you a high five." Over a light pattered beat, the songbird then soars in for the hook, singing, "the light is coming to give back everything the darkness stole."
Telling from the snippet alone, the dynamic duo, who have a history of delivering bangers together — "Get on Your Knees," "Bang Bang," "Side to Side" — sound as perfectly coordinated as ever. The 21-second audio appears just weeks after the "No Tears Left to Cry" vocalist originally tweeted the title of the song on May 7 using inverted text. In the minutes that followed the teaser, the 24-year-old chanteuse signaled the coming of two other songs from her anticipated fourth studio album, Sweetener — one confirmed as "God Is a Woman," the other presumably titled "The Last Judgement." Sweetener is slated to release later this summer. Justin Timberlake made hospital visits to the survivors of a school shooting that took place in Sante Fe, Texas last week.
On Friday morning (May 25), JT met 16-year-old Sarah Salazar, who was being treated for bullet wounds from the neck down to her thigh. The teen told ABC she tried hiding in a closet as the shooter opened fire into her class but to no avail — the May 18 incident left 10 people dead and 13 injured. The teenager's mother, Sonia Lopez-Puentes, photographed and shared the endearing moment to her Facebook page, writing, "Justin Timberlake visited Sarah Salazar this morning and brought her a gift." According to the Daily Mail, Timberlake, who was in the Texas area for his tour stop at the Houston Toyota Center Friday night, reportedly wore a Sante Fe Strong shirt and dedicated a live performance of "Until the End of Time" to the shooting victims just nights before. Salazar recently underwent jaw surgery and is currently awaiting a shoulder replacement according to the GoFundMe page created to cover her medical expenses. The suspected gunman, 17-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis, who allegedly conspired the slaughter with an AR-15-style rifle, shotgun, and pistol, is being held without bond on charges of capital murder, CNN reported. Want to learn the moves to BTS‘s latest smash hit, “Fake Love”? Now you can! BTS just dropped the dance practice rehearsal video on their YouTube on Sunday (May 27). BTS are having an amazing month: not only did they perform at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, but they appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where they amusingly got a big scare from a “fan girl” – and then performed“Fake Love” and “Airplane Pt. 2″ from their brand new studio album, Love Yourself: Tear. After delivering his Pusha T diss “Duppy Freestyle," Drake is back with another single called “I’m Upset.” The track features the OVO Sound leader angry at enemies who may have put a bounty out on him, gold diggers after his money and being disrespected by his peers. Given the past 24 hours, we can see why Drizzy is upset. "I'm upset / Fifty thousand on my head, it's disrespect / So offended that I had to double check / I'ma always take the money over sex / That's why they need me out the way / What you expect?" he raps, referring to his price on his head. There's no word if this song will appear on his next project Scorpion, which will be released in June. The collection will be his follow-up to his 2017 effort More Life. Lady Gaga is "back to work and feeling better," a source confirmed to Us Weekly on Saturday (May 26). “She spent yesterday at Electric Lady Studio in the West Village working on the soundtrack fixes for A Star Is Born and is there today.”
Back in February, Gaga, who suffers from fibromyalgia, a disease that increases musculoskeletal pain, had been forced to cancel the final 10 European dates of her Joanne world tour. The tough decision was reached five months after the Grammy Award winner broke the news of her tour postponement on Instagram after "suffering from severe pain" that prevented her from performing live at her best. “Bradley Cooper joined her at the studio earlier yesterday, as they are putting the finishing touches on the music for the movie,” the source added. “Gaga is in amazing spirits and much more back to herself. She has been all smiles and is so happy to be back at work.” The insider continued, “She couldn’t have been more down-to-earth, smoking cigarettes on the street and having a blast. It seems like the old Gaga is back.” Gaga will star alongside Cooper in A Star Is Born on October 5. Inspectah Deck confirms that Ghostface will produce the next Wu-Tang album with RZA "supervising it."
"Ghost has taken it upon himself to say, 'I want to get the beats, I want to hear some things that's happening here,' so we're trusting him the same we trusted RZA in the beginning," he adds. "Why not, man? Ghost has been successful in his solo endeavors. It's a change of pace. Hopefully we get another banger, another Wu classic out of this project as well, in the 25th anniversary." In addition to working on a new album for the 25th anniversary, Loud Records is working on remaking Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) with nine new rappers from today. "We're gonna do a few things. We're gonna remake the album with nine MCs from today and each new MC will play a character in the original 36 Chambers," explained Loud Records founder Steve Rifkind. There's no word on which nine new rappers will appear on the remake. Additionally, Wu-Tang will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Enter the Wu-Tang at this year's A3C Festival in Atlanta. "It's been awhile since we've done [the whole album], since the early 2000s, maybe," he says. "It's 25 years, man, and we stood the test of time and we're still proving ourselves -- and people still appreciate you like that, which is dope. So it's gonna be fun." Deck tells Wu fans. Rita Ora‘s raunchy new single "Girls", which also features Charli XCX, Bebe Rexha and Cardi B, was written about her relationship with model Cara Delevingne, and it hints that they were more than just friends.
The pair were practically inseparable a few years ago, with Ora even calling the bisexual model her “wifey.” It is now being reported that their time together inspired the "controversial" track, which includes the lyrics: “I’m fifty-fifty and I’m never gonna hide it.” Ora hasn’t tried to hide the subject of the song either, as she openly spoke of Delevingne as her muse while in the studio recording it. The song has many subtle references written about the relationship including the woman name being, “Lara.” The track also refers to some of the special moments they shared together in Malibu, California, when Charli sings: “All summer, we’ve been in the ‘bu, ’68 Chevy with nothin’ to do.” It also mentions the tattoo of a lion that Delevingne had inked on her index finger in May 2013, during Rexha’s section of the single. She sings: “You know I tamed it, and then I named it. I put the lion in the cage and then I laid with her.” A source said: “Rita and Cara’s relationship has always been speculated about and questions were asked at the time about whether they were more than good friends. While they never confirmed or denied anything, Rita has definitely allowed her music to do the talking. “She has been honest with pals about what went on with her and Cara and, during the recording process in the studio, she was happy to discuss the model being the main influence behind the track.” The catchy track also features the lines: “Sometimes I just wanna kiss girls, girls, girls” and “I ain’t one-sided, I’m open-minded.” In a chat in February 2013, Ora — who is now in a relationship with American rocker Andrew Watt — opened up about her friendship with Delevingne. She said: “She’s officially mine. She’s, like, untouchable. I’ve taken her off the market. We call each other ‘wifey.’ “You know what a wifey means? It’s like your other half. Like when you get married, like, that’s your wife!” The pair were constantly pictured together and posted messages about each other online — until they reportedly fell out later in 2013. Delevingne is thought to have snubbed the singer to spend more time with Rihanna. Azealia Banks’s video for ‘Anna Wintour’, which was released today, is the latest attempt to make good use of a warehouse. In the video, we see Banks dancing in a warehouse to “Anna Wintour,” outfitted in jean cutoff shorts, a cropped white t-shirt, black gloves, and black boots. Scenes alternate between the warehouse and an industrial-area rooftop, where Banks sings into a megaphone. |
