FAKY is about to release their major debut album on June 14th. With their first physical CD release. If you have yet to experience the music of FAKY, now is the perfect time to dive into their sound. FAKY’s “Surrender” is a dance track with a dark, heavy feel that was released worldwide on March 1st. The music video currently has more than 400,000 views on YouTube and in just a month and a half it cracked the top 10 on Spotify’s US Viral Top 50, rubbing elbows with Kendrick Lamar and other international superstars. Since entering Spotify’s US Viral Top 50 on April 15th, the track moved up the chart daily, eventually hitting its current spot at #7. Thanks to that, the track also ranked in at #34 on the Global Top 50, gaining the attention of music fans around the world. Just as internationally popular Japanese artists like Perfume and BABYMETAL before, no one can doubt the potential FAKY has in music markets around the world. Up until now, the majority of J-POP idols and bands have been known for their KAWAII (cute) factor overseas, but FAKY aims to break new ground as a Japanese dance and vocal group that can hold their own among the other high level acts in the world music scene.

Dave Chappelle and John Mayer have covered Nirvana and paid tribute to Charlie Murphy together. Now, they're announcing something called "Controlled Danger," a comedy and music hybrid show that'll come to the Fillmore in San Francisco on April 28 and 29. And they're enforcing a strict cell phone ban.
A post on the Fillmore's website says, "This is a strict NO CELL PHONES ALLOWED show. No cameras or recording devices will be allowed. Upon arrival, all phones and smart watches will be secured in Yondr pouches that will be unlocked at the end of the show. Guests maintain possession of their phones throughout the night, and if needed, may access their phones at designated Yondr unlocking stations. Anyone caught with a cell phone in the venue will be immediately ejected. We appreciate your cooperation in creating a phone-free viewing experience."

IME Taiwan confirmed the news with an official announcement poster. The show is set to be held on June 13 in Taipei’s TWTC Nangang Exhibition Center, played by acts like Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert and Kylie Minogue throughout the past few years. While Britney’s never formally brought a tour to Taiwan before, she did once graciously try out some snacks on camera while thanking the good people of Taiwan during the …Baby One More Time era. Kygo is releasing on Friday (Apr. 28), “First Time” featuring Ellie Goulding, both Kygo and Ellie made an announcement about the song on their respective Twitter feeds.
A few hours after posting news of the collaboration, Goulding also posted a short video of a cheering audience on her Twitter, saying: “We are excited for Friday.” Katy Perry shared the artwork and release date for her long-awaited new single “Bon Appetit.” In the cover art, the singer’s face sits smack dab in the middle of a fruit-filled plate, set upon a blue-checkered picnic blanket. Surrounding Perry are three blinged-out hands, reaching for her mug as she blows a kiss. Although we can’t see the arms’ owners, it’s safe to assume they belong to rap group Migos, who are featured on the track. While it’s unclear what the song will sound like, the “Bon Appetit” photo, captioned “Compliments of the chef” with a cute little cook emoji, gives off some serious Madonna vibes: Just look at Perry‘s frosted blonde hair, red hot lipstick and the and smokey shadow surrounding her baby blues! All she’s missing is that signature beauty mark. The “California Gurls” singer also revealed the most vital “Bon Appetit” info in her tweet: It will be released on April 28. Thanks for whetting our appetites, Ms. Perry! We’ll be banging our forks on the table as we wait for this treat to arrive. Kevin's attorney, Herschel Rush, says Kevin Gates charges carried a maximum of 10 years in prison so "we are very pleased with the result of 30 months."
The Cook County Sheriff's Office in Illinois says Kevin appeared in court Wednesday and pled guilty to his original charge of felony gun possession. Remember, the outstanding weapons-related warrant popped up the same day he completed his sentence in Florida for kicking a woman in the face at one of his shows. The warrant was issued because Kevin failed to appear in court for the 2013 gun case. We're told Kevin, who has been in jail since March 30, will be transferred to the Illinois Department of Corrections. This is the break that fans are waiting for to hear new Kesha music soon. Amid his two-and-a-half year (and still ongoing) legal battle with singer Kesha, Sony Music has reportedly finally removed Dr. Luke from his post as CEO of Kemosabe Records.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "the two sides are in the midst of negotiating a split" despite another source denying "the notion of a divorce." THR reports that court papers confirm Dr. Luke is no longer CEO of Kemosabe, the record label co-founded and -created by the producer and its parent company in November 2011. At the time, the deal gave Sony Music exclusive rights to Dr. Luke's services for five years, meaning he could only write and produce for Sony artists. In return, the agreement gave him free rein to hire staff and sign his own artists. One of which was Kesha, in 2005. But after creating a series of hits together, including "Tik Tok" and "We R Who We R," in October 2014, Kesha filed in California claims of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse against Dr. Luke. He then countersued for defamation in New York. Kesha then countersued in New York, alleging sexual assault, sexual harassment, and gender violence, but a judge there refused to grant her a preliminary injunction that would have allowed her to suspend her contract and work with other producers and labels while her case was pending. The same judge then dismissed the majority of Kesha's claims, including those of a gender-based hate crime, gender discrimination, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Last week, Kesha filed an appeal on a previously rejected bid to impose California's seven-year limit on personal service contracts. For now, as THR has reported, Sony Music has confirmed that Dr. Luke "no longer has authority to act on [Kemosabe's] behalf." One artist was eliminated on NBC's The Voice on Tuesday night. After Monday night’s voting and iTunes tallies, the bottom two artists had to sing live for the instant save. Coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine performed with their teams, and Alicia Keys and Gwen Stefani will perform next week.
Carson Daly started the night by bringing back the top 12 artists and announcing the first of the results. Viewers voted to save Team Gwen’s Brennley Brown, Team Adam’s Jesse Larson and Team Blake’s Lauren Duski. Brown’s advancement in particular was not a surprise, since her song from Monday night broke into the top 10 on iTunes. Daly also announced the creation of the Christina Grimmie Foundation, which will help victims of gun violence and breast cancer. A former contestant on The Voice, Grimmie was fatally shot at a concert last year. Levine, her former coach, dedicated his team’s performance of “Hey Jude” to Grimmie, and her family was in the audience. After G-Eazy took the stage and performed “Good Life” from The Fate of the Furious, and then Team Blake gave a country performance of “Crippled Inside” by John Lennon. It was time to get down to business. Team Gwen’s Troy Ramey and Team Adam’s Mark Isaiah had to sing for the instant save. Ramey went first, singing “Drift Away.” It was a smooth and soulful performance, but artists should always go with something more upbeat and exciting when singing for the instant save. This felt more like a casual jam session than a performance, and Ramey’s nerves seemed to be getting to him a little bit. Shelton said he has a classic sounding voice and also encouraged Ramey to show more of his personality on the show if he advances to next week. “You’re so easy with the way you sing,” Stefani said, describing him as natural and intuitive. Isaiah followed with a performance of “When I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars. And even though it also was on the slower side, it was a strong example of the kind of music that Isaiah sings very well. Given his easy charm, it’s surprising he hasn’t connected with viewers more. Levine thought it was a perfect song choice. “You’re getting better every day,” Levine said, urging viewers to vote Isaiah through so they can see his full potential. Live votes were cast on Twitter, and Daly announced the results. Isaiah won the instant save and advanced to the top 11, and Ramey went home. |
