K-pop group BTS has managed to become one of the biggest musical acts in the world without making an English-language song, instead sticking to Korean and Japanese. In a new interview for Entertainment Weekly, the members of BTS discussed why they’ve chosen to remain true to their K-pop roots instead of looking to cross over with an English hit.
“We don’t want to change our identity or our genuineness to get the number one,” RM, the group’s leader, explained. “Like if we sing suddenly in full English, and change all these other things, then that’s not BTS. We’ll do everything, we’ll try. But if we couldn’t get number one or number five, that’s okay.” (RM is also the only of the seven who speaks fluent English.) Play Video BTS believes they could still face an uphill battle by choosing to stick to Korean. “You know, Latin pop has its own Grammys in America, and it’s quite different,” RM told EW. “I don’t want to compare, but I think it’s even harder as an Asian group. A Hot 100 and a Grammy nomination, these are our goals.” The last big Hot 100 hit from an Asian artist was PSY’s “Gangnam Style,” the 2012 viral track boosted by its comic aspects, which reached number two. BTS’s Hot 100 peak was last summer’s “Fake Love,” which came in at the tenth spot. BTS' new album, Map of the Soul: Persona, will be released April 12.

Adam Lambert went public about his romance with Javi Costa Polo, posting several photos of the two of them cuddled together. The first photo shows the couple in what looks like a photo booth, smiling for the camera. Polo can be seen sticking out his tongue while Lambert smiles. The second image shows the 37-year-old American Idol alumni kneeling down, holding his boyfriend's legs.
Lambert also shared a photo of himself and Polo on his Instagram Story. In it, his beau appears to be sleeping.
"Lap nap," the singer wrote. In the past, Lambert has spoken about what a difficult time he's had finding love. In 2015, he told ET Online he wrote the song "Ghost Town" about his dating life. â "There are moments where I wonder to myself, 'Am I gonna fall in love again? Or ever? To the way that I feel like I want to?'" he said at the time. "Is my heart a ghost town? I don't know." Olivia Jade Giannulli parents, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli, allegedly payed her way into college, iand the backlash has been brutal and so devastating that Olivia is living with her boyfriend in Malibu to escape the backlash — and giving her mom and dad the silent treatment, according to a new report.
“Olivia has been staying with her boyfriend in Malibu. She’s not talking to her parents right now,” a source told Us Weekly Thursday. “Olivia hasn’t been out with friends. She is completely in hiding right now. Olivia is posting private Stories on her Instagram, using the only-close-friends option, to share her days on social media with her close circle.” Another insider told the gossip outlet that the 19-year-old beauty and YouTuber “is still very upset at her parents” — but her friends are encouraging her to forgive them. “A lot of Olivia’s friends have been telling her not to be mad at her parents since they were just trying to do the best they could for her, but she doesn’t listen,” the source said. “Olivia feels she is the victim.” Prosecutors charge that “Fuller House” star Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli allegedly paid $500,000 to get Olivia and her 20-year-old sister, Isabella Rose Giannulli, into the University of Southern California by pretending the sisters were competitive rowing recruits. Both parents were released on $1 million bond each. Both Olivia and Isabella have decided to drop out of USC because they’re afraid of being bullied over the scandal. (Plus the fact they never wanted to go there anyway). Another insider told Us Weekly that Olivia “is still enrolled” at the campus, “but she has withdrawn physically, she’s not there.” Olivia Jade has amassed nearly 2 million views on her YouTube videos. But her career has taken a hit in the scandal, which caused her to lose partnerships with TRESemmé and Sephora. Jussie Smollett will not be prosecuted for allegedly faking a racial attack, because all charges have been dropped.
Jussie and his lawyers went to court Tuesday morning in Chicago, where he was facing 16 felony counts of lying to police in the alleged racial and homophobic attack. Jussie will surrender his $10,000 bond. We're told he has agreed to perform community service. But that's it. The case is over. Jussie's lawyers say, "Today, all criminal charges against Jussie Smollett were dropped and his record has been wiped clean of the filing of this tragic complaint against him. Jussie was attacked by 2 people he was unable to identify on January 29th. He was a victim who was vilified and made to appear as a perpetrator as a result of false and inappropriate remarks made to the public, causing an inappropriate rush to judgment." The lawyers go on ... "Jussie and many others were hurt by these unfair and unwarranted actions. This entire situation is a reminder that there should never be an attempt to prove a case in the court of public opinion. That is wrong. It is a reminder that a victim, in this case Jussie, deserves dignity and respect. Dismissal of charges against the victim in this case was the only just result." A source close to Jussie says the prosecution's case "disintegrated." As we reported, there were issues with the $3,500 check the 2 brothers received from Jussie. The Police Superintendent had said the money was payment for the fake attack, but it appears it was actually for physical training. The Police Superintendent also said during a news conference that Jussie wrote that threatening letter 6 days before the attack when in actuality the FBI had not concluded who wrote the letter. The first look at the upcoming doll collection from Mattel based on BTS is here.
The American toy manufacturer teased both individual and group shots of the pint-sized pop stars after previously sharing small glimpses of the collection. “MIC Drop, ARMY!,” tweeted Mattel’s official account, referencing the group’s 2017 single that went on to become a RIAA-certified platinum hit. “For the first time ever, we're thrilled to show you the line of #BTSxMattel fashion dolls! Take a look at V, SUGA, Jin, Jung Kook, RM, Jimin and j-hope as dolls inspired by the Idol music video!” The seven figurines feature facsimiles of BTS’ members dressed in colorful suits the men wore in their “IDOL” music video, released last August. The dolls are reportedly set to go on-sale in September. Along with the dolls, Mattel also has put out a tie-in version of its card game UNO. BTS topped the Billboard 200 albums chart on two occasions last year, and are set to hit up the U.S. and several other countries across the globe later this year with stadium-sized shows as part of their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour.
Big Sean is opening up to his fans about battling depression and anxiety and has revealed that it has helped make him a stronger person.
The Detroit rapper scrubbed his Instagram except for 3 new videos he posted late Sunday night, detailing a spiritual journey he took starting around this time last year on his birthday. Sean says he felt lost and stepped back from life to examine why. When his usual meditation wasn't working, Sean says he turned to therapy and talking about his issues -- namely, his growing discontent with his work and the state of the relationships around him, some of which he calls "toxic." Sean says his therapist told him he needed clarity ... clarity on who was around him, on what he was doing ... and for what purpose. He explains that revelation put things into perspective and helped him re-prioritize a lot of things in his life. Along the way, Sean says he also started doing things by himself for himself ... like skydiving. Now, he says he's back in love with music ... and doing better than ever. â He leaves his fans with a powerful message about self-love and self-reliance ... hammering home the idea that getting one's foundation situated is a huge key to happiness.
Justin Bieber is taking a break from his music to focus on his health and his marriage.
Justin just announced his plans to hit pause on his career and shift his focus to more important things, like Hailey Baldwin ... telling his fans, "music is very important to me but nothing comes before my family and my health." The Biebs is sending a clear message to anyone clamoring him to release a new album ... saying, "I've toured my whole teenage life, and early 20s, I realized and as you guys probably saw I was unhappy last tour and I don't deserve that and you don't deserve that, you pay money to come and have a lively energetic fun light concert and I was unable emotionally to give you that near the end of the tour." Justin's comments come amid reports he's been getting treatment for depression. He addresses some of that by revealing, "I have been looking, seeking, trial and error as most of us do, I am now very focused on repairing some of the deep rooted issues that I have as most of us have, so that I don't fall apart, so that I can sustain my marriage and be the father I want to be." â Justin's not saying goodbye to the recording studio forever though ... he says, "I will come back with a kick ass album ASAP, my swag is undeniable and my drive is indescribable his love is supernatural his grace is that reliable."
