Pentatonix who is now comprised of Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola and Matt Sallee, have announced a brand new album, PTX PRESENTS: TOP POP VOL. 1 and it will drop on April 13 and a summer tour will follow shortly thereafter.
"We are SO excited to share that we'll be releasing our NEW ALBUM 'PTX PRESENTS: TOP POP, VOL. I' on APRIL 13TH!" the group wrote on Twitter Tuesday (February 27) to massive fan applause. "Omg the album is the best news ever!!!!!!! Such a shame it's not a world tour, I love you guys so much and can not wait for you to come to the UK," one wrote while another noted "I started screaming in the living room yaaaaaaaas can't wait." Kaplan, who's since been replaced by Sallee, explained his choice to leave the group in an emotional May 2017 video post that left him in tears, and said the rapid-fire pace of the music industry was not consistent with his natural state. "It's been extremely hard for me to not be able to see my family or friends when I need to or when they need to see me. It's been hard for me to just escape to nature when I'm feeling overwhelmed or when I just need time for myself," he said. See a full list of Pentatonix's official website. Tickets will go on sale on March 9, and the group has promised a number of presale opportunities.

The Spice Girls are official wedding singers. Mel B went on "The Real" Tuesday and told the news about the group's involvement with the Royal Wedding. Scary Spice kept getting pressed for more detail by the 'Real' ladies, and eventually confirmed that the Spice Girls will be providing some wedding entertainment, as well. The girls have agreed to reunite for a series of concerts in the UK and U.S. beginning in late summer. The girls have ALL signed back with their producer, Simon Fuller, and concerts dates are in the near future. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that immigrants, even those with permanent legal status and asylum seekers, do not have the right to periodic bond hearings, and could be held indefinitely.
It's a profound loss for those immigrants appealing what are sometimes indefinite detentions by the government. Many are held for long periods of time — on average, 13 months, some are held even longer. The case, Jennings v. Rodriguez, has implications for legal permanent residents the government wants to deport, because they committed crimes and asylum seekers who are awaiting a court date after turning themselves in at the border. Immigrant advocates contend that many of these immigrants have a right to be free on bail until their case is heard. But the court wrote in its 5-3 opinion Tuesday, "Immigration officials are authorized to detain certain aliens in the course of immigration proceedings while they determine whether those aliens may be lawfully present in the country." No one can claim, nor since the time of slavery has anyone to my knowledge successfully claimed, that persons held within the United States are totally without constitutional protection." Justice Stephen Breyer, reading from his dissent in the case Jennings v. Rodriguez The majority opinion was penned by Justice Alito and joined by the court's conservatives. (Justice Kagan did not participate. She recused herself, stemming from work she had done as President Obama's solicitor general.) The decision reversed a Ninth Circuit ruling and the court remanded it for the Ninth to reconsider the case. So this is not the last word and could come back to the high court. Justice Breyer read from his dissent, a rare move for the court that indicates just how passionately he disagrees with the majority opinion. "We need only recall the words of the Declaration of Independence," Breyer said, "in particular its insistence that all men and women have 'certain unalienable Rights,' and that among them is the right to 'Liberty.'" The American Civil Liberties Union took up Rodriguez' case. The civil-rights group filed a class action lawsuit and eventually won his release and the cancellation of his deportation order. Rodriguez remains in the United States. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the immigrant detainees and asylum seekers can't be detained indefinitely and that they have a right to a bond hearing every six months. The appellate court also held that, in order to hold these detainees, the government must show the immigrants would pose a danger or become a flight risk if set free. The Obama administration appealed to the high court, insisting that Congress — not the courts — has the power to make immigration law and that the law allows the government to detain "criminal and terrorist aliens" as well as "aliens seeking admission to the United States." The Trump administration continued the case. The administration also argued that detained immigrants should not be recognized as a class that could bring legal action. Lawyers for the Justice Department said detainees should rely on individual habeus corpus petitions to challenge their detentions. The ACLU countered that few detainees have access to legal counsel and that a backlog of such habeus corpus petitions almost guarantees delays in winning release.

Prince worked on Janelle Monaé's fourth studio album Dirty Computer prior to his sudden death in 2016.
In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac, Monaé revealed that she and the late icon were working on the album together before he sadly passed away in his Paisley Park home on April 21, 2016. "Prince actually was working on the album with me before he passed on to another frequency, and helped me come up with sounds," she revealed. "I really miss him, it's hard for me to talk about him. But I do miss him, and his spirit will never leave me." The comments were also echoed in the singer's interview with The Guardian, noting that she and Prince had been "collecting sounds" for Dirty Computer. The extent of Prince's contribution on the album is unclear, however the production credits for Dirty Computer should reveal all the deets when it arrives on April 27th. Prince and Monaé's collaborative history dates back to 2013's The Electric Lady, where they recorded "Givin' Em What They Love." Monaé's reveal should pacify fans of her recent single "Make Me Feel," which happens to be a beautiful display of the Purple One's aura. This funk-filled single, along with the fierce "Django Jane," will appear on Dirty Computer. Following the announcement that 2018 would be its final cross-country run, the Vans Warped Tour extended family has released a retrospective video celebrating the history and heart of the iconic tour. On the upcoming shows, Lyman has shared: "I truly am happy to get the chance to travel around the country one more time to thank you for your support, and bring you another best day ever."
"I have spent half of my adult life traveling alongside Kevin on the tour, connecting with bands and fans around the world," Steve Van Dorenrecalls. "Bringing music and action sports to youth for over two decades has been a personal honor and I'm excited to hit the road on the last cross-country tour." Early Bird Tickets for the 2018 Vans Warped Tour, presented by Journeys, have gone on sale today at VansWarpedTour.com. The line up for the 2018 Vans Warped Tour, presented by Journeys, will be announced this Thursday, March 1st. General admission tickets will be available on Thursday, March 8th. "I am very excited about the upcoming year. With it being the last tour, the non-profit presence will be as big as ever. Groups who have been out in the past will be coming out in more markets, and hopefully we will attract new non-profits," comments Sierra Lyman. "With more non-profits coming out there will be more options for our audience to hopefully get involved before, during, and after the tour. I am hoping that this last year encourages non-profits to partner with bands and for bands to partner with non-profits on their own events and tours once this summer is over." Meghan Trainor's says last years struggle served as some powerful inspiration, and is now the driving force behind her brand new single "No Excuses," which will drop March 1.
Trainor makes reference to problems surrounding vocal chord hemorrhages and consequent surgeries in the post, which she uploaded Sunday (February 25), and said her time away from the studio and the stage helped her to realize she needed to focus on her wellbeing before diving back into the music world.
"Thank you for persisting! It’s is inspiring! Life balance is a practice I have found worthwhile. Your music gets me through most things these days," one wrote, while another noted "The queen is baaaack!! We miss you but the wait was worthwhile!"
Trainor previously teased new music during a Late Late Show appearance earlier this month, during which she told James Corden she had two sexy videos "down, in the bag." Lisa Stansfield is back with a new release called "Billionaire," which is the first official single from her forthcoming album Deeper, which is due out April 6 via earMUSIC.
Written by Stansfield and her songwriting partner Ian Devaney, produced by Ian and Mark "Snowboy" Cotgrove, and with Stansfield taking the role of executive producer, Deeper is the iconic soul singer's eighth studio album Listen to "Billionaire" here. The song is available via iTunes and Spotify, as well. Stansfield's contribution to British soul is undeniable with a string of hit singles including "All Around the World," "All Woman," "The Real Thing," and many award-winning albums. Her unmistakable voice has been a constant presence on the dance floor and airwaves ever since 1989. Most recently she returned to the Top 20 of the UK album charts with her seventh studio album Seven. A gorgeous and personal collection of her trademark soul, the 2014 record was a reminder of why the artist has sold nearly 20 million records worldwide and had a string of international top 10 hits. And with Deeper, her successful streak shows no signs of stopping. DEEPER TRACK LISTING: 1. Everything 2. Twisted 3. Desire 4. Billionaire 5. Coming Up for Air 6. Love of My Life 7. Never Ever 8. The 47-year-old had performed the first of 2 standup comedy shows at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA when something went wrong. "After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack," Smith says. "The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka 'the Widow-Maker')." "If I hadn’t canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would’ve died tonight. But for now, I’m still above ground!" Smith posted a photo from the hospital covered by tubed and wires. Kevin's friend, Tom Arnold, tweeted out, "Fans of Kevin Smith please take comfort he is in a good hospital with great doctors but if he needs 2nd or 3rd opinions from the worlds finest cardiologists we’ve got him covered too." The former 2NE1 member CL had every eye in the Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium in South Korea on her as she sang her hit song from 2013 “The Baddest Female,” and one of 2NE1’s best singles ever, “I Am The Best”! Simply put, she brought down the house in an epic fashion. Check out a clip of her legendary performance below!
CL has also been following the Olympics all month long. She’s a proven fan of snowboarder Chloe Kim, and gushed over her skills on Instagram, wishing Chloe a congrats when the 17-year-old superstar won the women’s halfpipe! EXO also performed at the Closing Ceremony, and groups such as The Boyz, B1A4, NCT 127, 2PM, Red Velvet and BTOB have been performing after the medal ceremony each day. |
