Aerosmith have canceled the remaining four dates of the current leg of their “Aero-Vederci Baby” tour due to an undisclosed medical issue frontman Steven Tyler is facing. The affected gigs include three in South America and one in Mexico.

According to an official statement from the band, the unexpected medical issues have the singer seeking immediate care. He has been advised by his doctors that he cannot travel or perform at this time. “Steven is expected to make a full recovery,” reads the statement. “With proper rest and treatment he will be back on his feet soon rocking the world.”

Tyler also sent a personal message to his fans saying he has flown back to the United States for treatment, and that his condition, while not life-threatening, requires immediate medical attention.

“To everybody in South America….Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Mexico… I’m very sorry and feel like I’ve let you down,” Tyler says. “I won’t be able to continue the last four shows of this tour. I flew back to the U.S. on doctor’s orders last night after the show in São Paulo. Please not to worry … I am not in a life threatening condition, but I need to deal with this right away, and get some rest and medical care immediately in order to sustain and maintain my future performances … I promise I’ll be back … unfortunately, health does not wait and it’s something even I can’t schedule around our shows … As they say, ‘We humans make plans, and God laughs…’ I love you all and will be back with you soon…”

The group then collectively thanked fans for their understanding and support. There’s been a bit of back and forth between Tyler and the rest of the rock and roll legends from Boston as to whether this is the final go round for the band.
Last June, Tyler told Howard Stern, “I love this band, I really do, and I want to squash every thought that anybody might have about this … we’re doing a farewell tour, but only because it’s time. We’ve never done that.” Guitarist Joe Perry then told Rolling Stone that while it was “a good possibility,” he wasn’t quite sure. “It could be the last, but it’s really hard for me to imagine a last gig. Sorry.” Later in the year, drummer Joey Kramer told Houston’s Culture Map, “As far as I know, there is no farewell tour.”
